No. 34 Shenandoah Baseball Sweeps Emory & Henry In ODAC Opener Saturday

WINCHESTER, Va. – The No. 34 Shenandoah University Baseball Team (9-1, 2-0 ODAC) earned a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference wins over visiting Emory & Henry College (5-8, 0-2 ODAC) Saturday afternoon. The Hornets took the opener by a 15-0 score and claimed victory in game two, 7-2.

Game One – No. 34 Shenandoah 15, Emory & Henry 0
SU jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first highlighted by a two-run double to left by Wyatt Potter. After scoring a run in the second, the Hornets made it a 9-0 contest through four. A run in the sixth and four in the seventh made it 14-0 as Shenandoah capped the scoring on a double play in the eighth.

Carson Kulina earned the win for the Hornets, allowing just two hits in six innings of work with six strikeouts. E&H junior J.T. Agosto (Cornelius, N.C.) allowed five earned runs on seven hits prior to being replaced.

Game Two – No. 34 Shenandoah 7, Emory & Henry  2
E&H got on the board with two runs in the top of the second as sophomore Josh Woodard (Culpeper, Va.) singled up the middle and sophomore Connor Buchanan (Meadowview, Va.) hit a sacrifice fly to right field.

Shenandoah answered with two runs in the fourth as Potter plated a pair with a single to right. The Hornets continued their seven unanswered with three runs in the fifth and finished the job with two more in the eighth.

Calvin Pastel got the win in relief, allowing just one hit and two walks with five strikeouts in 2.2 innings. Cade Templeton was credited with the save, pitching the final 1.1 with one hit and two strikeouts. Wasp junior Noah Griffin (Fort Mill, S.C.) took the loss, allowing four earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts in five innings.

Up Next
Emory & Henry will travel to Brevard College on Wednesday for a non-conference matchup with the Tornados. First pitch will be at 3:00 p.m.
