KISSIMMEE, FLA. — The Ohio Northern softball team moved to 2-2 on the season with a split of games against a pair of Eagles on Day 2 of The Spring Games at Legends Way Field #2 on Monday.
The Polar Bears began play with an 11-3 victory over Eastern (Pa.) on Monday morning before falling to Bridgewater (Va.) 10-5 on Monday afternoon.
Senior Jordan Cloonan (Kirtland/Cornerstone Christian) went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI and two runs scored to lead a 13-hit ONU offensive attack against the Eastern Eagles (0-1) in the opener.
Northern plated four runs in the second frame, three more in the fourth and three more in the sixth to grab the win.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Hagarty (Akron/Revere) picked up the win with a complete-game 5-hitter to improve to 1-1 on the season.
Senior Brady Guest (Convoy/Crestview) capped a 5-hit day by going 3-for-3 with an RBI as ONU fell in the nightcap to the Bridgewater Eagles (6-2).
BU scored six times in the top of the fifth to turn a tight 2-1 lead into an 8-1 advantage.
Northern got three in the bottom of the frame to pull within 8-4, but BNridgewater would score twice in the top of the sixth to push the lead to 10-4.
The Polar Bears will return to action twice on Tuesday, playing York (pa.) at 10:15 am and Misericordia (Pa.) at 2:30 pm at the Hancock Fields in Clermont.
