Roanoke would hold a 3-1 lead before the Pride tied it and then took a one-run lead into the bottom of the ninth. Roanoke would plate a pair to walk it off for the 5-4 win.

Highlights:

  • After giving up a run in the top of the second, Jonny Wall led off with an infield single and advanced on a wild pitch. Owen Lawn tied the game with a base hit to left field. A Jack Marshall single put two runners on and when Peter Nichols was hit by a pitch, the bases were loaded. Troy Ferrell delivered a sacrifice fly to left to put the Maroons up, 2-1.
  • In the top of the sixth, the Pride would load the bases. Braeden Farrell came out of the bullpen and induced a ground ball to end the threat and keep the Maroons in front.
  • Wall led off the next half inning with a double to deep left center and came around to score on a Hunter Andrews base hit. Jeb Byerley came in to run and promptly stole second base. After stealing third base, Byerley was stranded and Roanoke lead was 3-1.
  • The Pride answered with an RBI double to cut the Maroon lead in half, 3-2.
  • In the top of the eighth, Greensboro put runners on the corners and a base hit through the right side would knot the score at 3-3. With runners on second and third, Brandon Hill recorded the last out on a fly ball to right field.
  • Bottom of the eighth started the inning off by being hit by a pitch and then stole second base to put a runner in scoring position. However, a strikeout and fly to left would halt the Roanoke rally as the game went into the ninth inning, tied at 3-3.
  • Greensboro would take a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth. PK Cocolis led off with a base hit to left. Mason Staz beat out a bunt for a base hit and the runners advanced to second and third on an error on the throw. Jacob Bonzon sent a ground ball to third, Cocolis broke for home and the throw was off the mark allowing the tying and winning runs to cross the plate as Roanoke rallied for the 5-4 non-conference win.
  • Wall was 3-3 with a pair of runs scored as seven different Maroons added one hit apiece. Gardner Meeks was credited with his second win of the season, retiring three of the four batters that he faced.
