How it Happened:

  • The first-half saw neither team able to open up more than a five-point lead and there were seven ties and four lead changes in the first 20 minutes of play as well.
  • Draper scored the final three of his 13 first-half points on a three-pointer as time expired to send the teams to the intermission knotted at 41-41.
  • The first 11 minutes of the second-half would feature more of the same as the teams tied four times and changed leads on three different occasions.
  • With the score 64-62 Maroons, Roanoke used a 12-4 run that was capped by a Draper jumper that made the score 74-66 with 4:18 left to play in the ball game.
  • Roanoke led 78-70 with 2:35 to play before the Tigers used four straight free-throws to cut the Maroon lead to 78-74 with 1:30 to go.
  • That would be as close as Hampden-Sydney would get as Roanoke connected on six free-throws in the final 1:03 to seal the win.
  • Joining Draper in double-figures was Efosa Edosomwan with 18 points off the bench. Jordan had 16 points to go along with seven assists. Ethan Rohan grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
  • RC shot 54.7% for the game making 29-of-53 attempts from the field on the day. The Maroons bench outscored the Tigers reserves 30-9 in the win.
  • H-SC got 24 points from Jake Hahn and 21 points from Ryan Clement. The Tigers were 24-of-57 (42.1%) from the field and made 24-of-28 free-throws.
