Shenandoah Women’s Soccer Rallies To Defeat Emory & Henry, 2-1, Sunday Afternoon

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University Women's Soccer Team (1-0, 1-0 ODAC) scored a pair of second-half goals on its way to a 2-1 win over Emory & Henry College (0-2, 0-2 ODAC) Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened
- Emory & Henry got on the board in the 38th minute when junior forward Callie McMurray (Gate City, Va.) found the back of the net.
- Just after the hour mark, Abby Alexa equalized the contest for the Hornets, assisted by Traevia Morris.
- SU got the go-ahead goal, 2-1, at the 82:50 mark when Maiya Pencile converted a penalty kick.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- McMurray and sophomore midfielder Helen Frazier (Vienna, Va.) both had chances on the afternoon with McMurray breaking through for the Wasps' first goal of the season.
- Sophomore Natalie Capone (Kannapolis, N.C.) made six saves in goal for E&H.

Shenandoah Individual Leaders
- Pencile led all players with four shots, putting two of her attempts on target to go along with her penalty kick goal. Alexa and Morris each took three shots in the contest.
- Natalie Jacobs picked up the win, allowing just one goal across the full 90 minutes of play.

A Deeper Look
- Shenandoah held a 16-2 shot advantage and also posted an 8-1 margin on corner kicks.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will remain on the road next Sunday when it takes on Virginia Wesleyan University. The contest will be played on the campus of Hampden-Sydney College.
