The Basics
Score:  Roanoke 18 | Meredith 4
Records: Maroons 10-3 / 4-1 ODAC | Avenging Angels 11-4
Location: Salem, Va.

The Lead: Roanoke stepped out of conference on Thursday when they hosted Meredith College at Kerr Stadium. The Maroons came into the matchup with the Avenging Angels looking to build on their current four-game win streak. Roanoke raced out to an early lead and grew their advantage to 13-3 at the half. The Maroons would keep the pressure on the Avenging Angels all afternoon long on their way to an 18-4, non-conference, victory.

How it Happened:

  • Molly Kasemeyer got her big afternoon off to a fast start with a goal off an assist by Sydney Harrison. The ODAC's leading goal scorer, Lilly Blair added to the lead and when Kasemeyer found Riley Chase, it was 3-0.
  • After a Meredith score, Chase added two more scores to make it 5-1. The reigning ODAC Player of the Week Libby Bowman scored her first of the afternoon and a Blair tally off a feed from Natalie Mason made it 7-1 after 15-minutes of play.
  • Harrison, from Kasemeyer, started the second quarter. Emerson Foster got into the scoring column ahead of two more Chase scores. Blair would find Tiernan Connor and a second Bowman score made it 13-3 at the half.
  • Chase and Kasemeyer continued to light up the scoreboard in third period with goals to grow the lead to 15-3.
  • The final period would start with another Conner goal and in the closing minutes, Kate Loughran found the back of the net on an assist from Tracey Benzing before Harrison closed out the game with her second goal off a feed from Grace Koutouzis.
  • Chase scored six times on the afternoon while Kasemeyer added two goals and four assists. Harrison, Blair, Connor, and Bowman all scored twice. In goal, Kyleigh Chickering allowed just the four goals while recording four saves.

Up Next: Roanoke will be back on the road with a trip to Mary Washington next Wednesday for a 4:00pm start with the Eagles.
