#1 Women's Tennis Blanks DePauw and #22 Washington & Lee to Remain Unbeaten

The No.-1 ranked Emory University Women's Tennis team blanked DePauw University and 22nd-ranked Washington & Lee University by the count of 9-0 on Saturday to remain at a perfect 12-0 on the season. Prior to the start of the matches, senior captain Daniela Lopez was honored with a special on-court ceremony.

During the two victories, Lopez and freshman Emma Cartledge recorded a pair of straight set wins in singles to lead the Eagles on the afternoon. Lopez was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at first singles against DePauw before added a 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles vs. the Generals. Cartledge was 6-2, 6-1 in the first match of the day at second singles before posting a 6-3, 6-1 win at fourth singles against W&L. The tandem added a pair of wins in doubles, winning 8-0 at first doubles against DePauw and 8-5 vs. WLU.

In addition to convincing wins in all six doubles matches, 11 of the 12 singles matches on the afternoon were decided in straight sets including sophomore Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico notching her team-leading 20th singles victory of the year with a 6-2, 6-1 at first singles against the Generals.

Emory will return to the courts this weekend with away matchups against No.-7 ranked Tufts University on Friday before facing No.-5 Middlebury College on Sunday.
