King's Six Goals Lead #18 UMW Women's Lax Past Randolph-Macon, 15-7

Senior attacker Kennedy King scored six goals to lead the 18th ranked University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team to a 15-7 victory at Randolph-Macon College on Tuesday evening in Ashland, Va. The Eagles, winners of three straight, improve to 3-3 on the season.

The Eagles started quickly, with two goals in a 39 second span just five minutes into play. Clare Madden opened the proceedings with her sixth goal of the year on a Samantha Stachowiak assist. Seconds later, Erin Steinberg scored her seventh of the year on a Rebecca Pullen feed.

The Yellow Jackets scored a pair of goals to knot the score at 2-2 with 22:10 remaining in the first half. The Eagles then went on a five-goal streak over the next 18 minutes. Pullen scored on a Stachowiak assist with 15:00 left, and Katie Blair followed unassisted at 8:51. Pullen scored on a Madden assist with 8:04 to go, and Blair scored again with 4:4 remaining. King scored her first of the day with 4:00 remaining on a Kayla Sarazin assist in capping the run. RMC scored the final goal of the half to give the Eagles a 7-3 advantage at halftime.

UMW started the second half with three straight goals, from Sarazin, King, and Madden. After the Yellow Jackets scored a pair to draw to within 10-5, UMW scored five straight, with King accounting for four tallies, and Sarazin one. RMC scored the final two goals of the night, giving the Eagles a 15-7 victory.

The Eagles led in shots, 27-17, as well as ground balls, 13-8. UMW goalkeeper Reilly Miller made six saves, while Grace Clarke and Rylie Cole each had four ground balls.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they visit Roanoke College at 5:30 p.m.
