BC Drops Road Match Up at Ferrum in Virginia

FERRUM, Va. - The Brevard College men's basketball team (0-4) fell, 81-56, to Ferrum College (2-2) on Saturday evening in Ferrum, Virginia. 

Senior Levi Lamb scored 16 points to lead the Tornados.  Lamb shot 5-of-11 from the field, 2-of-4 from beyond the arc and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line.

Ja'Michael Boone, a freshman from Fort Deposit, Alabama, registered career-highs with 13 points and three made three-pointers.  Boone also pulled down a team-high five rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench.

Cannon Lamb dished out a team-best five assists to go along with seven points.

Ferrum was led by Rashad Reed with 17 points.  James Smith Jr. also scored in double figures with 14 points.

Brevard took an early 6-5 lead on a Levi Lamb dunk after an assist by Cannon Lamb with 16:16 to play in the first quarter.  A free throw by Levi Lamb then gave the Tornados a 7-5 lead.  Ferrum would, however, reel off a 23-2 run to take a 28-9 lead with 5:40 to play in the first half.

A Boone layup ended the scoring drought for Brevard, yet Ferrum would go on to take a 40-17 lead into intermission.

Brevard outscored Ferrum 41-39 in the second half, however, the first-half deficit was too much to overcome.  Led by Levi Lamb and Boone, The Tornados heated up from beyond the arc in the final stanza going 7-of-14 in the second half. Overall, BC shot well overall from the field as well as going 14-of-25 (56%) in the field goal category.

For the contest, Ferrum shot 46.8% from the field while Brevard shot 45.7%. Ferrum would hit four more 3-pointers and five more free throws than the Tornados, which proved to be the difference in the matchup.

Ferrum also out-rebounded BC 40-24 to go along with a 12-3 advantage in second-chance points.

Next up for the Tornados is an exhibition at NCAA Division I The Citadel on Tuesday, November 26 at 7 p.m. in Charleston, South Carolina.
