Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Hoagland, Novak, Clark named to All-Tournament team, Jays shut out by Roanoke

SALEM, Va. — The offensive woes continued for the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team in its tournament finale against host Roanoke Sunday afternoon. The Blue Jays managed eight shots, but were unable to find the back of the net and were shut out for a second consecutive game as Roanoke won, 3-0.

Dana Robidoux was tested 1:43 into the contest, but the senior keeper made the save on Ashely Barnes' shot.

Elizabethtown (0-2-1) had a pair of corner kicks in the sixth and seventh minute, but couldn't generate any scoring chances off them. The Jays held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks during the first half.

Roanoke (2-0-1) took the lead in the 24th minute on Linnea Kremer's goal, her first of two in the game.

E-town's lone shot of the opening half came off the boot of Miriah Dwyer, who saw her shot saved by Sarah Dvorak. Dvorak made five saves in the game for the clean sheet.

Lauren Berry was close to equalizing the game for the Jays in the 48th minute, but her shot hit the woodwork, keeping the Maroons ahead 1-0.

Berry and Kaceyanne Cerankowski had back-to-back chances saved by Dvorak, who was in goal for Roanoke's draw the previous game.

Kremer added her second in the 59th minute. The Maroons made it 3-0 on Anna Carter's goal in the 71st minute.

Hailey Parks played the final 14:32, making one save.

Elizabethtown had a 7-4 edge in corner kicks, but Roanoke outshot the Jays 13-8.

For their efforts over the weekend, Lindsay Hoagland, Caroline Novak, and Trisha Clark represented E-town on the all-tournament team.

The women's soccer team will host Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday, September 9 at 7 p.m. at Ira R. Herr Field, looking for its first win of the season.
