LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Juniata men's lacrosse team picked up their first win in program history as they took down Randolph on the road, 19-9, Wednesday afternoon at WildCat Stadium.
Jacob Wallman (Arbutus, Md. / Western Tech) led the way with five goals, two assists, and two ground balls, while Aiden Duran (Walden, N.Y. / Valley Central) amassed four goals and an assist. Jack M Loucks (Toronto, Canada / Minden) had three goals, two assists, a ground ball, and a caused turnover. Kolton Black (Mount Airy, Md. / South Carroll) totaled three goals and an assist, while Reuban Stoll (Bethesda, Md. / Walt Whitman) contributed two goals, two assists, and a ground ball. Jake Rivoir (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields) tallied three assists and a goal to go with a caused turnover, while Vincent Bechler totaled a goal and two groundballs. Heath Gamarel (Wayne, N.J. / Wayne Hills) went 16-23 on faceoffs, while Justin Toney (Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill) got the win in goal, making 14 saves.
Juniata scored the first four goals of the game, with Wallman scoring in the first 32 seconds, and less than a minute later, Duran scored off a pass from Rivoir. Rivoir setup Wallman for a. third, and he scored his second unassisted to put JC up 4-0. The Wildcats got one back before goals from Stoll, and Loucks made it 6-1 Juniata after the first quarter.
In the second, the Eagles blew the game wide open as they scored eight unanswered goals, with Duran tallying three, Black and Loucks adding two, while Rivoir tallied one to send JC into the locker room up 14-1.
Wallman found Stoll and Black setup Wallman for the first two goals of the second half as the lead increased to 15 over the first four minutes. The Wildcats scored the final four goals of the quarter to shrink the Eagle advantage to 11.
Juniata managed the fourth effectively to clinch their first win as a program. The Eagles had a 25-17 edge in groundballs and went a perfect 18-18 on clears.
The men's lacrosse team will look to add another win this Saturday at home against Marywood at 1:00 in their final tuneup before conference play begins.
