The Lead: For the final time this regular season, the Roanoke men's lacrosse team was on the road for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup when they traveled to Shenandoah. The Maroons used a 5-2 second quarter, followed by a 6-3 third frame to pull away for the ODAC win over the Hornets, 14-9.

How it Happened:

  • Quinn Evans scored to start the night but the Hornets would answer. Luke Kammerman scored off a pass from Matt Hemmert when the Maroons were up a man to take a 2-1 lead after one period of play.
  • Ethan Caldwell found George Gilbert ahead of a Wyatt Whitlow score to make it 4-1. Shenandoah would score to stop the 3-0 run but Sean Kennedy added another score to the board. With 3:19 left before the break, Gilbert scored followed by another Kammerman to Whitlow tally to make it 7-3 at the half.
  • Griffin Buck scored off the opening faceoff and on the ensuing faceoff, Brooks Klyver won it and fed Kammerman as Roanoke scored twice in the opening 30 seconds of the third quarter. Three consecutive Hornet scores would close the gap but Roanoke closed the period on a 4-0 surge. Two more Whitlow goals would be followed by another from Kammerman with Evans adding his second of the game.
  • The Roanoke defense took it from there as the Maroons would add one more score, a Matthew Albertson tally, to take the game, 14-9.
  • Whitlow had four goals and an assist while Kammerman added three scores and two helpers. Gilbert and Evans scored twice and Klyver accounted for eight of RC's 47 ground balls. Taylor Lewis notched his 11th win of the season, recording 11 saves.

Up Next: The Maroons will wrap up regular season play at home when they host Randolph College on Saturday afternoon after the women's game. The opening faceoff with the WildCats is scheduled for 2:00pm.
