The Lead: After hosting an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tri-match on Saturday, the Roanoke volleyball team made the short trip to Hollins for another ODAC matchup. The Maroons took the first two sets by identical scores, 25-11, before finding themselves in a close third-set. Roanoke would close out the match by taking the final two points for the 3-0 ODAC victory over Hollins.  

Highlights:

  • Trailing 9-10 in the first set, kills by Parker Moody and Linsey Bailey triggered a 12-0 run as the Maroons won 16 of the final 17 points for an opening set win, 25.11.
  • Four straight kills, Bailey (2), Moody, and Claire Williams, would spark a 12-2 Roanoke surge to take a 2-0 lead.
  • Kylee Draper gave Roanoke a 21-19 lead after her first kill of the match. The Maroons would use kills by Bailey and Angel Ross to close out Hollins, 25-21, and pick up the ODAC win.
  • Bailey finished with 12 kills and Moody added 10 for a Roanoke offense that enjoyed a 41-18 edge in kills. After eclipsing the 2,000 assist mark for her career on Saturday, Olivia Newman handed out 21 more helpers. Kennedy Clemmer added eight digs and nine assists from the back row while Moody and draper each recorded four service aces.
