The Lead: After opening the season with a win at home, the Roanoke men's soccer team traveled to Maryland for the first of two matches this weekend. Salisbury was the first opponent for a Maroon team looking to get the season off to a quick start. A goal just five minutes into the afternoon would give RC the lead. After a Seagull score tied it Roanoke netted the game winner in the second half to stay unbeaten to start the season.

Highlights:

  • Roanoke wasted little time as Vincent Lamina scored off a ball from Dylan Berk just over five minutes after the opening kick.
  • Seven minutes later Salisbury would tie the score on a strike from Ethan Dolezal.
  • The score would be tied at 1-1 heading into the break. Roanoke enjoyed a 6-4 edge in first half shots but four Seagull saves would allow the home team to stay in the match.
  • At 62:57, Berk recorded his second assist of the contest when he found Quinn Kunath for the eventual game winner.
  • Nine Salisbury shots, four on goal, in the second half were kept out of the goal as Roanoke pitched a shutout for the final 78 minutes of the match.
  • Zach Behe picked up his second win of the season, recording five saves.
