The Lead: After knocking off the #4 seeded Generals on Thursday, the Roanoke men's basketball team faced top ranked Randolph-Macon in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) semifinals on Saturday afternoon. The nation's #1 Yellow Jackets raced out to a 7-0 lead on their way to a 40-19 halftime lead. Roanoke would win the second half but it wasn't enough as Randolph-Macon knocked the Maroons out of the tournament for the third straight year with a 75-58 win.

How it Happened:

  • Roanoke would win the tip but after a turnover on the opening possession, Macon would score the first seven points of the afternoon. Nick Price scored to stop the Yellow Jacket run and get the Maroons on the board.
  • With 8:59 left in the first half, Randolph-Macon enjoyed a 22-6 advantage. A Zach Rosenthal three followed by another Price bucket would trim the deficit to 12.
  • The Yellow Jackets held a 37-15 edge before back-to-back baskets by Price and Efosa U-Edosomwan gave Roanoke a little momentum heading into the closing seconds. However, a last second three-pointer would see RMC with a 40-19 lead at the break.
  • Randolph-Macon would push their lead to 24, their largest of the afternoon, out of the half. Ethan Rohan and U-Edosomwan scored the next six points and after a Kasey Draper three-pointer, the deficit had been cut to 45-28.
  • Rosenthal hit a three followed by a jump shot and Roanoke had gotten back into the game, 55-42, with 10-minutes left to play. However, that was as close as Roanoke would get as the Yellow Jackets once again pulled away and the Maroons were knocked out of the tournament with a 75-58 loss to top ranked Randolph-Macon.
  • U-Edosomowan led the Maroons with 16 points. Price wrapped up his Roanoke career with an 11-point, two assist, and three steal effort while Draper and Rosenthal added 10 points apiece.
