Lacrosse Falls to Ferrum

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College lacrosse team fell 17-2 at home to Ferrum College (Va.) on Wednesday afternoon.

 Ferrum got off to a terrific start leading the Bishops 9-0 after the first 25 minutes of action. Senior captain, midfielder Ali Cucinotta, then got the Bishops on the board with her goal with 3 minutes to go in the half off an assist from junior midfielder Maddie O'Neill.

Ferrum (2-0) then added another goal before half and then 7 more in the second half.  Wesleyan scored their second goal of the game with just under 2 minutes to play as Cucinotta scored on a free position shot.

Cucinotta attemped 8 shots in all while freshman Blaire Harley won two draw controls. O'Neill, junior Aydriyan Upchurch, and freshman attacker Aisling Key also each recorded two ground balls apiece.

Reigning Rookie of the Week, goalie Devin Bautz, played well in the loss making 15 saves on 32 shots on goal.

The Lady Bishops, 1-1, will get right back to action on Friday when they remain home to host Southern Virginia University at 3:30 PM.
