WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Ferrum capitalized on a pair of double-digit performances from Trina Lewis (21 points) and Aisha Martin (13), along with 10 rebounds from Lewis, to emerge with a 66-47 victory in Salem's non-conference finale on Friday, December 30th.

The backcourt tandem of Alize Brooks and Dionne Sampson tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively, to lead the way offensively for Salem, while teammate Minnie Griffin poured in 10 points off the bench to complete the double-digit performances. Savanah Atkins anchored the middle with 10 rebounds (five offensive), leading the way for a unit that tallied 37 rebounds.

Salem struggled to find its offensive rhythm, hitting just 14-of-64 (21.9%) from the floor, but did knock down 16-of-27 from the free throw line in the contest.

FIRST QUARTER
The Panthers opened the game by hitting 7-of-14 from the floor and 3-of-5 from 3-point range, owning a 17-13 after the first 10 minutes. Sampson provided Salem with a 7-4 lead at the 5:38 mark, hitting a pair of free throws, but Ferrum countered with a 13-0 run that stretched the margin to 10 with a 3-pointer from Martin. Brooks put the Spirits into double figures with a pair of free throws and Cress Bass followed with a 3-pointer at the buzzer to pull Salem within four.

SECOND QUARTER
Ferrum's hot shooting continued into the second, where the Panthers finished 9-of-16 (56.3%) from the floor, resulting in a 38-22 advantage at the intermission. After a scoreless 1:03 of action, Ferrum had an 8-0 run that stretched the lead to 25-13 at the 6:51 mark. Brooks ended the Salem drought with a layup, but the Panthers continued to push their offense, resulting in a 32-17 advantage. Minnie Griffin countered with a 3-pointer, but the Panthers closed the half on an 8-2 run.

THIRD QUARTER
Five different players accounted for two points each for the Spirits in the third quarter as Ferrum stretched its lead to 52-32. Kayla Cabiness led the way for the Panthers with five points, hitting 2-of-3 from the floor, while Trina Lewis grabbed three rebounds.

FOURTH QUARTER
Salem ended the game on a positive note, enjoying its best offensive quarter of the contest with 15 points by virtue of hitting 6-of-16 (37.5%) from the field. Both Brooks and Griffin scored five points to lead the way for the Spirits, while Martin tallied five and Lewis added four of her own for Ferrum.
