The Lead: Roanoke traveled to Randolph-Macon for their Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener on Tuesday night. Both teams came into the evening with five out of conference wins as the two long-time ODAC foes would look to get the 2021 conference schedule started with a win. The first 60 minutes would be played virtually even, before a flurry of late shots by the Yellow Jackets would tilt the field in their favor. However, the Roanoke defense would stand up and the match headed to overtime. After 110 minutes the match would end in a 0-0 tie.

Highlights:

  • Randolph-Macon would enjoy a 15-10 shot edge during regulation.
  • Less than a minute into the first extra frame, Michael Ramsey got the first chance to break to tie but his shot was saved by Adam Braithwaite.
  • The only scoring opportunity in the second extra period came 2:30 in, when Liam Camilleri sent a shot to the right corner of the goal but Braithwaite made the save and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
  • Zach Behe registered five saves in goal for the Maroons.

Up next: Roanoke will finally be back in the friendly confines of Kerr Stadium on Friday night when they play host to Eastern Mennonite.
