The Basics
Score: Roanoke 27 | Ferrum 4
Records: Maroons 10-4 / 6-1 ODAC | Panthers 3-8 / 0-7 ODAC
Location: Ferrum, Va.

The Lead: The second place Roanoke College men's lacrosse team made the 45-minute trip to face Ferrum on Wednesday night. The Maroons were receiving votes in the most recent USILA Top 20 poll and went looking for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) best sixth win this season. Roanoke used a 10-0 opening period to seize control of the game as they pulled away throughout the night for the 27-4 ODAC win.

How it Happened:

  • Luke Kammerman accounted for six of Roanoke's 10, first quarter, scores. The sophomore scored three goals and assisted on three others as Roanoke wasted little time in establishing its dominance over the Panthers. Luca Docking added two scores and a pair of helpers with Ethan Caldwell scoring three times. Wyatt Whitlow and Sean Kennedy rounded out the first period scorers.
  • Jay Frye found Aidan Sullivan to start the second frame. Carson Peck got in on the act ahead of another Kammerman marker. Whitlow set up Trevor Stocks before scoring off another Kammerman helper. A second Frye score added to the lead and when Whitlow assisted on a Matt Hemmert goal, Roanoke had started the game on a 17-0 run. Ferrum finally got on the board with a pair of late second quarter goals as the Maroons took a 17-2 advantage into the half.
  • Brock Niemeyer netted the lone goal of the third quarter to increase the RC lead to 18-2.
  • Jack Isabelle and Dominic Cuomo scored one-minute apart to start the final period. Frye and Isabelle made it a 20-goal lead. After a Panther score, Isabelle added two more goals before Harrison Peacock closed the game with one final RC score off an assist by Cuomo. In the end, Roanoke picked up the easy, 27-4, ODAC win.
  • Kammerman had four goals and five assists while Isabelle added four scores. Caldwell finished with three goals with Whitlow and Docking each scoring twice and handing out three assists. Peck picked up a game high seven ground balls. Taylor Lewis got the start in goal and was awarded the win before being relieved by Cole Hiller, Greg Oakes, and Dan Cain. The quartet combined to stop four of the eight shots they faced.

Up Next: The Maroons are scheduled to host Lynchburg on Saturday night in a pivotal ODAC matchup at 7:00pm.
