UMW Women's Soccer Erupts for 7-0 Win at Eastern Mennonite

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team saw six different players score, led by freshman Kaitlyn Venzen's two goals, in a 7-0 victory at Eastern Mennonite University on Wednesday night in Harrisonburg, Va. The Eagles improve to 3-2 on the season.

Venzen opened the scoring at just 2:17 on an assist from senior Amanda Krest, who followed at 7:22 with her third goal of the season, unassisted. Venzen notched her second goal of the game at 10:39 on an assist from her twin sister, Kristina, and senior Mikaela O'Fallon upped the Eagle advantage to 4-0 with a score at 28:34.

The Eagles held a 1-0 advantage through halftime, and continued to add to the lead in the second. Sophomore Riley Boyd netted her first goal of the season at 50:25, and Savannah Alexander followed at 70:11. Freshman Madison Bauserman capped the scoring at 79:34.

The Eagles led in shots, 27-1, as well as corner kicks, 5-3. Eagle goalkeepers Ally Holden (45 minutes), Adriana Thompson (29), and Caroline Sheusi (16) combined for the shutout without turning away a shot.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they host Virginia Wesleyan University at 2:00 p.m.
