The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team fell to Washington & Lee University, 1-0, in double overtime on Sunday afternoon in the Johns Hopkins Classic. The Eagles slip to 3-1 overall. 

In the first half, the two teams played even but the Eagles held the shot advantage 6-5. Of the five shots that W&L had, four of them were on net and were denied but Kenny Kurtz. 

UMW dominated in the second half as the Eagles were able to outshoot the Generals 8-3, but only one of them was on target. The two teams failed to put one in the back of the net over the course of regulation and then went into overtime. 

During the first overtime, only one shot was recorded. In double overtime, the Eagles were called for a penalty in the 103rd minute of play. On the ensuing penalty kick, Kurtz made a save but the ball bounced right back to the penalty taker and he put the next ball away to win the game for the Generals.

The Eagles outshot W&L 19-8 and won the corner kick battle 6-5. Kurtz made four saves in goal. 

UMW will be back in action on Wednesday as they will travel to Lynchburg for a game at 7 p.m.
