HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- In a match that was rescheduled from Saturday, the Hampden-Sydney College tennis team was swept by Guilford, 9-0, Monday afternoon. The Tigers fall to 1-7 overall and 0-6 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) while the Quakers move to 7-1 overall and 6-1 in the ODAC.
Guilford quickly moved through doubles before clinching the match with wins at number four and five singles. Senior
Andrew Donelson/McLean won his first set at number two singles, 6-4, but dropped his second set, 6-2. With the team outcome already decided, a match-tie break was played. Guilford claimed the final two points in a race to 10 for a 10-8 win to complete the sweep.
The Tigers will have a quick turnaround when they travel to Bridgewater College on Tuesday, April 13 in ODAC action. The match with the Eagles is schedule for 4 p.m. in Bridgewater.
