ASHLAND, Va. - The NC Wesleyan College baseball team dropped their road non-conference game 16-6 at Randolph-Macon College on Tuesday afternoon.

RMC got out to a 5-1 lead through three innings off Bishop sophomore starter Cullen Davis. Wesleyan's first run came on CF Drifton Padgett's RBI single.

The Bishops then rallied in the 6th as junior catcher Jean Lagreca hit a grand slam homer to tie the game at 5 before SS Javier Quintana's RBI single gave the Bishops their first and only lead of the game.

However, RMC would then regain the lead in the bottom of the 6th off Bishop reliever Cord Butler scoring two on a single and wild pitch to lead 7-6. Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets would then put the game out of reach with a 9-run 8th inning to take the win by 10.

RMC's 9 runs were scored off relievers Emry Jackson and Hunter Hopkins on a couple but singles, walks, hit by pitches and groundouts while the big blow was a three-run double.

Davis lasted 3 innings for the Bishops allowing 5 runs (just 1 earned) on 3 hits and 4 walks while striking out four. Freshman Hunter Hill then relieved Davis in the 4th and proceeded to throw two scoreless innings allowing just one hit and striking out three. Senior reliever Kevin Williams also came on in the 7th and tossed a scoreless frame as well.

Leading the Bishops offensively where Padgett and DH Blake Scott with two hits apiece while 3B Jackson Hobbs also had a double.

Wesleyan falls to 15-11 overall while RMC, who are receiving votes in the latest D-3 top 25 rankings, improves to 17-5.

The Bishops next return to action on Friday when they come home to host rival William Peace at 3:00 PM in the start of a three-game series.
