Freshman Leads Pride Over #19 Guilford

Greensboro, NC -- Freshman Damian Dixon had 22 points and made clutch shots down the stretch, as Greensboro College defeated Guilford College, 76-73, in overtime, at the Greensboro Coliseum on Monday night.

Dixon was 5-10 from the field, 4-8 behind the arc and 8-10 from the free throw line. Dixon scored eight of the last 10 points. With The Pride down by five points and less than two minutes to play in overtime, Dixon hit a 3-pointer from the left wing to cut the deficit to two.

After T.J. Holman hit two free throws to tie the score, Dixon made a 3-pointer from the top of the key to give The Pride the lead for good.

Daren Dexter had 17 points and Holman added 15 for The Pride.

Tobi Akinsola led Guilford with a game-high 24 points.

Note: The Greensboro College hoops doubleheader sweep was the first since 1998, and the second overall for The Pride.
