  • Marion, Brown Earn All-America Honors
    May 28, 2010
    Virginia Wesleyan designated hitter Mike Marion and Hampden-Sydney third baseman Matt Brown collected a pair of All-America awards over the past week. Marion was selected as a First Team All-American by both the ABCA and D3baseball.com. Brown was tabbed for the second team by D3baseball.com and third team by the ABCA.
  • Late-Inning Surge Ends BC's Season

    With the game tied at two each, Salisbury tagged three runs on the board in the sixth, before notching a total of seven runs in three innings to knock the Bridgewater Eagles baseball out of the NCAA South Regional Championships at Methodist University by a 9-2 tally. Bridgewater ends the season with a 23-20-1 record after winning the program's 13th ODAC Championship.
  • Shenandoah Tops Bridgewater Baseball

    The USA South Champion No. 9 Shenandoah Hornets (35-8) scored in six of their eight innings at the plate while the Bridgewater Eagles offense was held in check as the Eagles fell by an 11-1 tally in the opening game of the 2010 NCAA Division III South Region Championships at Methodist University. BC will now face Salisbury in an elimination game on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.
  • NCAA Release Baseball Tourney Brackets

    Bridgewater will be the only representative from the ODAC in the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament, as announced in the NCAA regional pairings release on Monday. The Eagles earned their place in the NCAA field by winning the ODAC tournament title. Regional play begins on Friday, May 28.
  • Three Earn Baseball Academic Awards

    Three ODAC baseball players added honors to their résumés over the past week as CoSIDA announced its academic all-district teams. Virginia Wesleyan's Max Axelrod headlines the list as he was named to the 2010 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 3 First Team. Bridgewater's Drew Elkins and Guilford's Alex Starbuck were tabbed to the second team.
  • Hicks, Marion Headline Baseball Awards

    Randolph-Macon and Hampden-Sydney each put three players on the All-ODAC First Team as part of the 2010 ODAC Baseball All-Conference Teams. Virginia Wesleyan designated hitter, Mike Marion, was selected as the ODAC Player of the Year, and Randolph-Macon hurler Kyle Hicks was tabbed the ODAC Pitcher of the Year in a vote of the league’s head coaches.
  • Eagles Win ODAC Baseball Crown

    Bridgewater College knew it had to win twice on Sunday to go home with some hardware, and the Eagles came through as they beat Lynchburg College in both the scheduled championship game and the double-elimination "if necessary" game. Casey Hartman (above) fired seven innings to propel BC to the win.

  • ODAC Baseball Tournament Set

    The pairings are set for the 2010 ODAC Baseball Tournament with a new team atop those qualified. Bridgewater College (19-17-1 overall, 14-4 ODAC) enters as the top seed despite its season ending loss to Lynchburg College in a replay of the 14 inning affair that ended in a tie a few weeks earlier.
  • LC's McDonough Wins NCBWA Award

    Lynchburg College pitcher Ryan McDonough picked up the national weekly pitcher award from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). McDonough tossed a no-hitter in a 2-0 win over Immaculata University, becoming the first Hornet to post a no-no in 28 years. McDonough needed only 89 pitches to complete the feat.
  • Lynchburg Heads Baseball Preseason Poll

    Lynchburg garnered top billing in the first ODAC preseason poll of the spring as the league’s coaches tabbed the Hornets atop the annual baseball survey. Lynchburg received 90 total poll points and four first place votes. Virginia Wesleyan and Randolph-Macon sit tight in second and third with 81 and 80 points, respectively. The Yellow Jackets earned three top nods.

Lynchburg women's soccer is set to challenge for the D-III title in San Antonio, and basketball is in full stride.
