While Nickles is the only ODAC student-athlete and one of just two players from the Commonwealth to earn Academic All-America status, he is one of three conference standouts to earn Academic All-District recognition. Bridgewater College senior shortstop and Washington and Lee University senior outfielder Ryan Monson were also tabbed to the 11-man team. This is the second time Nickles has earned All-District laurels, pairing this year's honors with his 2018 nod as a sophomore.

Nickles, a senior from Staunton, Va., has a cumulative grade point average of 3.95 as a biology major. He has been on Dean's List seven times and ODAC All-Academic Team three times. Nickles is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Beta Beta honor societies. He is a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) member as well as pre-health society member.

This spring, Nickles was second in the nation with 54 strikeouts, fourth with six starts, 14th with 16.76 strikeouts per nine innings, and 16th with three wins. He allowed 15 hits in 29.0 innings and registered an ERA of 2.79. Nickles helped the top-ranked Yellow Jackets post a 15-1 record, the best start in program history.

Over the past four years, Nickles went 15-6 with a 4.13 ERA. He made 34 appearances with 28 starts. In 143.2 innings, Nickles allowed 128 hits and fanned 141.
