The Shenandoah University baseball team saw its season come to an end Saturday with a 7-3 loss to Johns Hopkins University in the game two of their best-of-three super regional series.

Host Johns Hopkins had an outstanding pitching performance Friday afternoon in a 6-3 victory over Shenandoah University in game one of its best-of-three NCAA Division III Super Regional series.

Shenandoah University forced the 'if' game Sunday at the Union Regional of the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament with a 6-4, 10-inning victory over host Kean. Shenandoah (34-13) now faces the Cougars (31-15) in a winner-take-all championship with a 4:15 start.

A pair of ODAC standout right-handers had a new door opened for them earlier this week in the annual Major League Baseball first-year player draft. Randolph-Macon College junior Colin Selby and Shenandoah University senior Colin Morse were selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals, respectively, on Wednesday.

Sophomore Ryan Duphorn (Erial, N.J./Paul VI) went 3 for 4 with one run and three RBI as the top-seeded Randolph-Macon baseball team fell 8-6 to No. 5 Texas-Tyler Monday afternoon at the NCAA Division III World Series at Fox Cities Stadium.

Senior Cole Migliorini (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) and junior Cole Grinde (Woodford, Va/Caroline) combined for six hits, four runs and seven RBI as the top-seeded Randolph-Macon baseball team defeated No. 8 Misericordia 14-6 in an elimination game Sunday morning at Fox Cities Stadium on Day 3 of the NCAA Division III World Series.

Eighth-seeded Roanoke defeated fourth-seeded Concordia University Chicago 10-3 in an elimination game Sunday afternoon in game nine of the Division lll Championships. With the win, Roanoke advances to play No. 5 Washington & Jefferson at 5:30pm CDT/6:30pm EST Sunday evening in Appleton.

Roanoke closed a historic season Sunday evening at the College World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin. The Maroons were one of four final teams in the NCAA Division lll Championships.

Eighth-seeded Roanoke fell 11-1 to fifth-seeded Washington & Jefferson in day two of the Division lll Championships in Appleton, Wisconsin. Roanoke faces No. 4 Concordia University Chicago in an elimination game at 11:00 a.m. EST on Sunday.

It took just one appearance for Phil Morse '16 to earn the first promotion of his professional baseball career with the Washington Nationals organization. Barely 24 hours after striking out all five batters he faced versus the Gulf Coast League Astros on Saturday, Morse earned a promotion to the Auburn (N.Y.) Doubledays of the Class A NY-Penn League Sunday afternoon.

Randolph-Macon College infielder Travis Lodge and starting pitcher James Walsh lead a list of ODAC award winners for the second and third times this season as the duo earn First Team All-American honors from both the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3baseball.com. Three others garnered All-America recognition from one of the two national outlets.

Senior James Walsh allowed one run in six innings and junior Stuart Brown delivered a pair of sacrifice flies as second-ranked and second-seeded Randolph-Macon fell 4-3 to top-seeded La Roche in the Championship Game of the NCAA Tournament's Mideast Regional Sunday afternoon at Ross Memorial Park.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2014-15 ODAC Sportsmanship Teams in each of the 17 winter and spring sports sponsored by the conference. This marks the sixth year the league has recognized these fine student-athletes for their excellence in sportsmanship.

No. 8/9 Shenandoah University saw its baseball season come to an end Friday afternoon with a 7-2 loss to No. 2/2 Frostburg State on day three of the 2015 NCAA Mideast Regional hosted by Washington & Jefferson.

Heidelberg pitcher Adam Manner sent Shenandoah University into the elimination bracket of the 2015 NCAA Mideast Regional by throwing a complete game two-hitter in a 5-0 victory over the Hornets Thursday evening.

One school received its record 19th season-ending individual honor while the other earned just its second such prize as the ODAC Board of Directors announced its top two individual student-athlete awards on Monday. Washington and Lee University cross country and track star Annelise Madison was recognized as the Marjorie Berkley Award recipient, while Guilford College baseball standout John Macon Smith took home the Harry G. "Doc" Jopson Award.

Shenandoah University third baseman Michael Paul has collected a full mantle's worth of awards in 2014 as he leads a long list of ODAC baseball stars to earn postseason awards from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3baseball.com. Paul was tabbed an All-American by both outlets and is joined by Guilford College first baseman John Macon Smith in garnering All-American recognition from the ABCA.

Emory wiped out an early 2-1 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and went on to defeat Bridgewater 5-2 to win the NCAA South Region title game. The loss ends the Eagles dramatic postseason run that began in the ODAC tournament when BC defeated nationally-ranked Shenandoah twice on the final day to win the conference title and qualify for the NCAA tournament.

The Huntingdon Hawks jumped out the an early 3-0 lead and went to defeat the Bridgewater College Eagles, 6-2, Friday in NCAA Division III South Region tournament action at USA Stadium. The loss eliminated the Eagles from postseason play as they finished the season with a 34-13 record.

Fifth-seeded Randolph-Macon was eliminated by top-seeded Huntingdon 5-0 Thursday in the NCAA Division III South Regional at USA Stadium. The Yellow Jackets finish the 2013 season with a 23-19-1 record and an ODAC championship.

Bridgewater College jumped out to an early lead with a six-run third inning and then held off a late Methodist rally to stay alive in the South Region tournament with a 10-7 victory Thursday at USA Stadium. BC faces Huntingdon on Friday afternoon in an elimination game.

Eastern Mennonite has announced the hiring of Ben Spotts as head baseball coach. The Royals didn't have to look too far as Spotts has spent the past 14 years as assistant baseball coach at Bridgewater College, just down the Route 42 corridor. He will become the 10th head baseball coach at EMU when he begins July 1, replacing interim head coach Jason Stuhlmiller.

Randolph-Macon's two-time All-American first baseman, Jordan Walton, may not have been drafted last week, but he will continue his playing career at the professional level as he signed a minor league deal with the reigning world champion St. Louis Cardinals. Walton will report to the Batavia Muckdogs (N.Y.) in the short-season New York-Penn League.

Recently graduated Lynchburg shortstop Richard Palase was drafted in the 32nd round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Seattle Mariners last week. He is one of 12 NCAA Division III players to be drafted this season. He is the second Hornet to be drafted in the last four years, following Ronnie Labrie '08, who was selected by the Washington Nationals in 2008.

Randolph-Macon junior first baseman Jordan Walton (pictured) heads a list of six ODAC award winners from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABC). Walton was tabbed a First Team All-American, and earned a spot on the All-South Region First Team. Five other ODAC players were named to the All-South Second and Third Teams.

Postseason honors came to a pair of ODAC first basemen over the past week. Guilford's Kyle Wooden (pictured) and Randolph-Macon's Jordan Walton were named All-American's by D3baseball.com. Wooden earned a spot on the second team while Walton was tabbed to the third team.

The Randolph-Macon baseball team saw its 2011 season come to an end Thursday evening in Lakewood, N.J., as Johns Hopkins downed the Jackets, 8-5, in a Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament elimination game. R-MC had previously been beaten by Kean early in the morning.

Virginia Wesleyan designated hitter Mike Marion and Hampden-Sydney third baseman Matt Brown collected a pair of All-America awards over the past week. Marion was selected as a First Team All-American by both the ABCA and D3baseball.com. Brown was tabbed for the second team by D3baseball.com and third team by the ABCA.

With the game tied at two each, Salisbury tagged three runs on the board in the sixth, before notching a total of seven runs in three innings to knock the Bridgewater Eagles baseball out of the NCAA South Regional Championships at Methodist University by a 9-2 tally. Bridgewater ends the season with a 23-20-1 record after winning the program's 13th ODAC Championship.

The USA South Champion No. 9 Shenandoah Hornets (35-8) scored in six of their eight innings at the plate while the Bridgewater Eagles offense was held in check as the Eagles fell by an 11-1 tally in the opening game of the 2010 NCAA Division III South Region Championships at Methodist University. BC will now face Salisbury in an elimination game on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.

The 2008 ODAC Baseball Tournament seeding is set with Lynchburg College holding down the top seed. Virginia Wesleyan College and Randolph-Macon College sit second and third while Bridgewater College, Washington and Lee University and Hampden-Sydney College round out the final three entries in the six-team field.

A strong combination of new and old talent headlines the 2008 All-ODAC Baseball Team awards selected by the league’s coaches at their annual meeting earlier this week. Lynchburg College senior shortstop, Ronnie LaBrie, was named the ODAC’s Player of the Year while Randolph-Macon College head coach, Ray Hedrick, earned his first conference Coach of the Year award. Washington and Lee University senior outfielder, James Madden, was tabbed the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year in a vote of the league’s sports information directors.

Virginia Wesleyan College sits atop the 2008 ODAC Coaches’ Poll with 90 total votes, but predicting the winner of this season’s campaign provided varied points of view. VWC received four of the ten first place votes, but four of the top five teams in this year’s poll also received top spot consideration.

Bridgewater College (21-21) defeated Hampden-Sydney College (25-18) for the second in as many days, shutting out the Tigers 7-0 to claim the 2007 title of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship. The victory marked the 12th ODAC crown for the Eagles, tops in the conference all-time.

Defending champion Virginia Wesleyan College enters the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament as the number-one seed after completing the conference regular season tied for the league-best with a 13-5 ODAC record. The tournament is slated for April 26-29 at City Stadium in Lynchburg, Va. This year's tournament marks the third consecutive ODAC baseball championship hosted in the Hill City.
