MICHAEL DEL BUONO, Lynchburg, Freshman, Pitcher

Del Buono, a freshman from Clifton, Va., tossed a nine inning complete game shutout in his first collegiate start to lead the Hornets to a 10-0 win over N.C. Wesleyan.  She surrendered just two hits in the effort while fanning one batter.  He did walk four batters, but also rolled up 14 ground ball outs that included four double-plays.

Casey Hartman, Bridgewater, Senior
Hartman pitched eight shutout innings in a game that ended in a 0-0 tie after 13 innings. Hartman allowed eight hits while striking out two and walking four.

Thomas Worley, Eastern Mennonite, Freshman
Worley pitched in four of EMU’s five games and did not allow a single run to score.  He only gave two hits in his 6.2 innings of work, while striking out six and walking one.  Worley picked up his first save in Tuesday’s high-scoring win over Stevenson, as he came in with one out in the ninth and struck out two to preserve the win for the Royals. In Saturday’s win over Emory & Henry, Worley relieved EMU’s starter after he allowed two runners to reach base opening up the seventh.  Worley whiffed three straight batters to keep the game tied, then picked up his first win when Dylan Smith homered for EMU.  The freshman now has a 2.20 ERA in 16.1 innings.

Reid McLean, Guilford, Senior
McLean threw 5.2 innings of two-run relief in Guilford’s second loss to Randolph-Macon Apr. 10… scattered seven hits and fanned five in his longest appearance of the season

John West, Hampden-Sydney, Senior
West threw improved to 6-2 on the season while pitching his seventh complete game of the season in the Tigers’ 6-2 win over Roanoke College. Though West allowed two runs on three hits in the first inning, the senior ace did not allow a single hit for the rest of the game. Even more impressively, West did not allow a single player on base in the following six innings, retiring 18 straight batters. On the day, West struck out five while walking just one.

Kyle Hicks, Randolph-Macon, Senior
Hicks allowed no earned runs and struck out six in the Yellow Jackets 9-3 win over the Quakers on Saturday. Hicks is 5-1 on the season with an ODAC best 1.79 ERA.
