MATT BROWN, Hampden-Sydney, Senior, Third Base

Brown, a senior from Chester, Va., picks up his second straight ODAC Player of the Week award after helping the Tigers to a 4-0 week that included three wins over ODAC opponents.  Brown batted .500 for the week, going 9-for-18 with three homers, a double, 11 runs batted in and six runs scored. Brown started off the week with a 4-for-6 effort against Lynchburg, including a walk-off three run homerun in the bottom of the 12th inning to win the Tigers’ ninth straight ODAC game. In that game he batted in five runs while scoring two of his own. He continued the week by hitting another homerun in the Tigers’ 14-0 win over Greensboro. He extended his consecutive-games-with-a-homerun streak to seven, hitting a three-run shot in the Tigers’ first of two games against Roanoke College. In the second game, Brown went 2-for-4 while scoring a run and stealing his second base of the season.  Over the past two weeks, Brown has gone 21-for-33 (.636) with 10 homeruns and 24 RBI.

Baseball Player Honor Roll

Devon Snow, Bridgewater, Sophomore - C/OF
Snow hit for a .556 average in five games as the Eagles finished the week with a 2-2-1 record. Snow was 3-for-4 with two RBIs in a victory over Ferrum. He was 1-for-3 with three runs scored in a win over W&L and 2-for-3 in a loss to Mary Washington. He closed the week going 4-for-8 in a DH against LC.

Dylan Smith, Eastern Mennonite, Sophomore - Catcher
Smith went 11-for-19 from the plate to bat .579 in a 2-3 week.  He scored seven runs and drove in seven more, including a walk-off homerun in the 7-6 win over Emory & Henry.  Smith ripped the second pitch he saw leading off the bottom of the seventh for the game-winning solo shot in that game.  He finished 4-4 in that game with three runs and two RBIs.  The sophomore also went 3-4 with four RBIs and two runs in Tuesday’s 21-17 victory over Stevenson.  Smith drew two walks during the week and was also hit by two pitches.  The catcher also threw out three of eight would-be base stealers, including two in the game against Washington & Lee.  After his big week, Smith took over the ODAC lead with a .471 batting average

Casey Mann, Guilford, Freshman - Outfield
Mann hit a team-best .556 and scored a club-high four runs in Guilford’s 0-4 week… doubled twice and stole a base in the four games… had at least two hits in all four games… matched his career high with four hits in the second game with Randolph-Macon… went 2-5 with a double and an RBI in a loss to 26th-ranked Methodist… was 2-4 with a double and run scored in a loss to Emory… went 6-9 with a run scored in two losses to Randolph-Macon… raised his batting average to .394 and extended his hitting streak to five games.

Michael Kenah, Lynchburg, Freshman - 2nd Base
Kenah posted a solid week for the Hornets, getting five starts at second base. Kenah posted back to back three hit performances on Tuesday and Wednesday, driving in three in each contest. Friday against NC Wesleyan, he drove in three more in a 10-0 win over the Bishops. On the season, he is hitting .457 with 11 RBI in only 35 at-bats.

Jordan Walton, Randolph-Macon, Sophomore - 1st Base
Walton went 5-for-8 over both games of a doubleheader with three doubles and five RBI as Randolph-Macon Baseball Swept Guilford 7-2 and 9-3 in Greensboro Saturday.  For the week, he batted .529 (9-for-17) with four doubles, eight RBI and seven runs scored.

Jake Cameron, Virginia Wesleyan, Sophomore - 1st Base
Cameron ripped his second home run of the season in the first game against Emory & Henry and topped that by bashing a VWC sophomore record three home runs in the second game against the Wasps.  His effort also tied the VWC varsity record set by Mike Marion earlier this season and tied the ODAC and Virginia records for most homers in a game.  Cameron also scored a career-high five runs in the second game, one shy of tying the Virginia Division III record.  Cameron hit .500 in a four-game week and is now hitting .312 for the 19-13 Marlins.
