Read the ODAC Football Report: Week 6

Three teams remain unbeaten in conference play following week six of the collegiate football season.  Hampden-Sydney College and Randolph-Macon College own identical 4-1 overall and 2-0 ODAC records, while Guilford College also sits 2-0 in league play and 3-2 in all games.  Washington and Lee University joined the Tigers, Quakers and Yellow Jackets in the winners' circle, moving to 1-1 in conference action and 3-2 overall.

It all started on Friday night with Randolph-Macon limiting Catholic University to 219 yards of total offense and just three points over the final 57 minutes of play in a 34-10 road win in Washington, D.C.  Tom Solak, the ODAC Defensive Player of the Week, led the Yellow Jackets defense in pitching a second-half shutout.  He made 11 stops with a sack, an interception and a pair of pass breakups.  Offensively, Will McGhee churned out 139 yards on 32 carries, while John Byrd notched a pair of touchdown runs.  For Catholic, TJ Tutone registered the Cardinals touchdown with a 3-yard run on their opening possession.  Anthony Albanese and Conor Stueckler led the defense with 12 total tackles each.

Guilford and Shenandoah combined for 1,150 yards of total offense with the Quakers setting a new school record with 705 yards from scrimmage in a 56-29 triumph over the Hornets.  Quarterback Matt Pawlowski, the ODAC Offensive Player of the Week (pictured), set a new Quakers' record with a 83.9 completion percentage.  He was 26-of-31 for 360 yards and six touchdown passes.  He completed passes to nine different receivers, including four for 148 yards and two TDs to Adam Smith.  Smith had a 75-yard catch-and-run in the third quarter.  Josh Schow ran for 116 yards and touchdown, his fifth straight game with 100-plus yards rushing.  Defensively, Robert Smith led with eight tackles, while Satiir Stevenson intercepted two passes, one to thwart an attempted fake punt in the end zone.  For Shenandoah, quarterbacks Drew Ferguson and Justin Neff combined for three touchdown passes, including two long ones to Brandon Adams of 77 and 30 yards.  Cedrick Delaney also had a lengthy TD pass, covering 78 yards.  Michael Wroble led the defense with seven tackles and a sack.

Washington and Lee trailed 14-6 at the half at Emory & Henry College, but the Generals outscored the Wasps 15-3 in the second half to pull out a 21-17 road win.  W&L racked up 441 yards rushing with three players eclipsing the 100-yard mark --- Luke Terna (16 for 169), Nick Lombardo (19 for 140) and Marshall Hollerith (23 for 110).  E&H's Joe Vaughn ran for 109 yards and a 1-yard TD run to open the game's scoring.  Terna ripped off a 73-yard TD dash to bring W&L within one, but Lucas Kirby made it 14-6 E&H with a 7-yard TD pass from Kyle Boden (24-for-31 for 278 yds).  Lombardo made it 14-12 with an 8-yard TD run early in the third quarter, and Matt Underhill gave W&L its first lead of the game with a 25-yard field goal late in the frame.  Austin Breed returned the edge to E&H with a 26-yard field goal with 11:16 to play, but Hollerith notched the winning score from 2-yards out late in the fourth quarter.  W&L's defense put the stops to any final comeback attempt by E&H with Moody Heard intercepting a pass at the W&L 24-yard line.

Hampden-Sydney led 21-0 at the half and scored the first 28 points of the game in a 28-7 home win over Bridgewater College.  Sidney Henry set the tone for H-SC by returning the opening kick-off 90 yards for a touchdown.  The Tigers notched two more scores in the first half with a touchdown pass to Holton Walker (8 rec. for 112 yds) and a short TD run by Brady Macko (10 for 43 yds).  Quarterback Nash Nance, who was 14-of-24 passing for 192 yards, ran for a game-high 78 yards including a 35-yard touchdown.  Shreve Rohle, Josh Doggett and Robert Stack led the H-SC defense with 10 tackles each.  Charlie Shoemaker recorded an interception.  For Bridgewater, Jeffrey Moore notched the Eagles score with his first career touchdown reception from Willie Logan (20-of-44 for 183 yds. passing).  Andrew Palmer led the defense with nine tackles, including three for a loss.
