Director of Athletics John Sutyak has announced the hiring of Cleive Adams as the new head football coach at Ferrum College.

Three ODAC standouts earned recognition in the final set of awards announced by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) on Wednesday. Bridgewater linebacker Re'Shaun Myers and Ferrum offensive lineman Jordan Patti earned First Team All-America laurels, while Shenandoah offensive lineman Daniel Small collected Second Team All-America recognition.

Bridgewater College collected a league-best 18 all-conference awards and earned four of the five special individual honors to highlight the 2019 All-ODAC Football Awards. Eagles' quarterback Jay Scroggins earned the J. Stokeley Fulton Offensive Player of the Year award, while linebacker Re'Shaun Myers earned a second straight Lou Wacker Defensive Player of the Year honor. Bridgewater mentor Mike Clark earned ODAC Coach of the Year laurels from his peers, while Eagles' receiver Viante Tucker collected ODAC Rookie of the Year recognition. Washington and Lee University offensive tackle Sean Clark earned ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades for the league's sports information directors.

Louis "Lou" Wacker, an Emory & Henry College Hall of Famer who won nearly 70 percent of his games as head football coach of the Wasps, has died at age 84. The Richmond, Va. native spent 23 seasons as the Wasps head coach, and previously spent 20-plus years on the coaching staff at Hampden-Sydney College. Wacker died of heart failure on Friday, February 15, his family said.

Ferrum College running back Brian Mann, University of Lynchburg goalkeeper Delia LoSapio, and Randolph-Macon College midfielder Maddie Burns headline the ODAC's contingent of academic student-athlete honors from CoSIDA as the trio were tabbed Google Cloud Academic All-Americans from the fall seasons.

Shenandoah University quarterback Hayden Bauserman earned a special distinction on Thursday evening as the Hornets senior signal-caller was named a finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy, which is largely considered an award to recognize the Division III player of the year. Bauserman is the third ODAC student-athlete to earn a spot among the final four, joining for Guilford College quarterback Matt Pawlowski in 2015 and former Washington and Lee University running back/kicker Luke Heinsohn in 2012.

The College Football 150th Anniversary has debuted another component of its celebration with the launch of its website at CFB150.org. The site will be designed in conjunction with SIDEARM Sports, a Learfield Company.

Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn announced that following a national search, Garrett LeRose '07 has been promoted to head football coach effective immediately. LeRose had previously served as the program's assistant head coach and coach of tight ends and wide receivers.

Fresh off national signing day and the excitement surrounding it, the look of the College Football 150th Anniversary celebration is ready with the release of the campaign logo. In addition, CFB150 has announced a partnership with The Marketing Arm to assist with all facets of the upcoming anniversary.

In the eighth installment of ODAC 40 features, we highlight the conference's top awards in a pair of conversations with the first winners of the Marjorie Berkley and Harry G. "Doc" Jopson Awards. Former Eastern Mennonite University (then known as Eastern Mennonite College) volleyball star Becky (Derstine) Esch garnered the first Berkley Award in 1984, while former Washington and Lee University football and track & field standout Chip Nunley earned the inaugural Jopson Award in 1981.

In the sixth edition of the ODAC 40 top moment features, we are joined by Bridgewater College football head coach Mike Clark. He along with Brad Bankston and J.J. Nekoloff reminisce about the Eagles appearance in the 2001 Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, the NCAA Division III Football National Championship Game.

Randolph-Macon College took home three special honors as part of the annual All-ODAC Football Awards, as selected the league's head coaches. Running back Tre Frederick was tabbed the J. Stokeley Fulton Offensive Player of the Year, while defensive lineman Cole Burdette was named the Lou Wacker Defensive Player of the Year. Yellow Jackets' mentor Pedro Arruza received ODAC Coach of the Year laurels. Guilford College wide receiver Tyriek Russell picked up ODAC Rookie of the Year plaudits, while Washington and Lee University linebacker Max Garrett was chosen the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete.

The Touchdown Club of Richmond has announced that Washington and Lee Head Coach Scott Abell has been selected to receive the Willard Bailey Coach of the Year Award as the State Coach of the Year for the College Division. Danny Rocco of the University of Richmond will receive the Bobby Ross Award as the top University Division coach.

Washington and Lee University offensive lineman Michael LaSala earned All-American honors from three separate outlets to lead the ODAC's contingent of five All-American honorees. That group includes a quartet from Guilford College in quarterback Matt Pawlowski, receiver Adam Smith, running back De'Eric Bell, and punter Tyler Hunt.

Postseason honors for NCAA Division III football's best players have started to roll in, with the ODAC well represented. Guilford College quarterback Matt Pawlowski leads the pack as he is a finalist for the 2015 Gagliardi Trophy, which honors the top player in D-III football. He is one of four finalists that will make the trip to Salem, Va., on Wednesday, December 16, a special ceremony in conjunction with the Stagg Bowl.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2014-15 ODAC Sportsmanship Teams in each of the fall sports sponsored by the conference. This marks the sixth year the league has recognized these fine student-athletes for their excellence in sportsmanship. Seventy-five athletes were honored this season.

December 21, 2014
Four athletes from ODAC schools earned All-American recognition to lead the conference's contingent of award winners. Guilford defensive back Satiir Stevenson was tabbed to the first team by D3fooball.com and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), while teammate and fellow defensive back JerMario Gooch picked up a second team spot from D3football.com. Hampden-Sydney receiver Holton Walker also received second team recognition, while Bridgewater return-man Jordan Hartman was selected to the third team.

Senior quarterback Nash Nance (Calhoun, GA/Tennessee) was named the winner of the Willie Lanier Award on Wednesday night, given to the top player in Division II, III and NAIA in the state by the Touchdown Club of Richmond. Nance was a finalist with Christopher Newport quarterback Marcus Morrast and Virginia State linebacker Andre Rawls.

Kyle Boden, the standout quarterback for the Emory & Henry College football team, has been selected to receive one of the top scholar-athlete awards from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Boden, who graduated from Emory & Henry this past Saturday, has been awarded the prestigious Walter Byers Postgraduate Scholarship. The award is given annually to one male and one female who are selected from among the more than 1,100 member institutions across all three NCAA divisions.

Former Emory & Henry College football coach, Lou Wacker, was a part of the 2014 class that was inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame on April 26 at the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel & Waterfront Conference Center. Coach Wacker spent 23 seasons guiding the Wasps' football team, and he racked up a conference-record 164 wins to go with 11 league titles, also an ODAC-best mark. He was an assistant coach at Hampden-Sydney College for 24 years before taking the reins at E&H.

Former Hampden-Sydney College running back Kirk Rohle was honored as a Carnegie Medal medal recipient through the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission. The Carnegie Medal is a bronze medallion three inches in diameter and is awarded to civilians who risk their lives to an extraordinary degree saving or attempting to save the lives of others.

In this week's ODAC Podcast, Brad calls in from the NCAA Convention in Grapevine, Texas, a suburb just outside Dallas. He and J.J. speak about some of the topics covered so far at the annual event. They're also joined by a pair of interviews with Bridgewater men's basketball coach Don Burgess and former Hampden-Sydney running back Kirk Rohle, who will receive the NCAA's "Award of Valor" on Friday.

Shenandoah University introduced Scott Yoder as the Hornets' new head football coach in a press conference on Thursday afternoon. Yoder arrives in Winchester from his alma mater, Hobart College (N.Y.), where he played as a wide receiver and served as an assistant coach for the past 12 years. He was the Statesmen's defensive coordinator the last six seasons.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced its field for the 2012 Division III Football Championship on Sunday evening and Washington and Lee will hit the road for a first round contest at Hobart College.

The Bridgewater College football team opened Spring outdoor practice in a new way by welcoming a pair of Special Olympians to serve as honorary team captains for the day on Monday afternoon in Bridgewater, Va.

Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn announced that Scott Abell has been promoted to head football coach effective immediately. Abell had previously served as the program’s assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. He replaces Frank Miriello, who announced his retirement from coaching earlier this week after 17 seasons as W&L's head coach.

Three student-athletes earned the conference's top awards in a vote of the ODAC Board of Directors at the annual league meetings earlier this week. W&L's Greg Kurkis was recognized as the Doc Jopson Award winner. BC's Christina Rhodes and W&L's Emmy Mathews will share the Marge Berkely Award., marking the first tie in Berkely Award history.

Former Ursinus College associate head football coach and defensive coordinator, Chris Rusiewicz, was announced as Guilford College's 22nd football coach in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon. Rusiewicz was named the AFCA Assistant Coach of the Year for NCAA Division III this past season, his ninth on the sidelines at Ursinus.

BC's Tyler Beiler learned of another major honor on Thursday following the announcement of the 2010 D3football.com All-Region Teams. The Eagles' receiver was tabbed the South Region Player of the Year, highlighting a contingent of 13 student-athletes from the ODAC schools honored. The conference placed five players on the first team.

Washington and Lee football athlete, Greg Kurkis, is one of eight student-athletes from Old Dominion Athletic Conference member schools to earn a 2009 ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award during the fall athletic schedule. Kurkis tied with Hampden-Sydney College’s Josh Miller for the award. Both were tabbed from a pool of nominees by a vote of each of the conference’s sports information directors.

Ted Keller, a legendary former coach, athlete and athletic administrator at Randolph-Macon College, passed away Friday, April 10, 2009. A native of Winchester, Virginia, Keller graduated from Handley High School in 1949 where he was a star athlete in football, basketball, and track. At Randolph-Macon, he excelled in football and baseball for four years.

November 25, 2008
Catholic shared both major ODAC awards with Keith Ricca and Nick Olivero securing player of the awards. Olivero was also the sports scholar-athlete. R-MC's Pedro Arruza was tabbed the top coach while WLU's Charlie Westfal was selected as the top rookie.

Catholic University made the most of its first postseason appearance since 1999, defeating Johns Hopkins University, 18-17, in the ECAC Southeast Bowl. It marked the first postseason triumph for CUA since 1935.

The opening event of the 2008-09 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) athletic schedule has officially been set. The 2008 ODAC Football Media Day will be held on Friday, August 8 at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Virginia. The annual meeting will begin at 11:00 a.m.

Hampden-Sydney senior receiver Drew Smith (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) has been named the Dudley Award Winner on Thursday night at the 2007 Dudley Awards Banquet at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. Smith, the Division II/III/NAIA recipient, is joined by University of Virginia defensive end Chris Long, the Division I and I-AA recipient, as the 2007 award winners.

Hampden-Sydney College wide receiver Drew Smith and Washington & Lee University defensive back Kyle Luby took home the ODAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year awards in the annual voting of the conferences’ football coaches. The Tigers’ Marty Favret was tabbed the Coach of the Year while W&L offensive lineman Greg Kurkis was named the Freshman of the Year. Bridgewater College quarterback Jeff Highfill picked up his second straight ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award.
