  • VWC to Host Games Away from Home
    February 11, 2009
    The USA Field Hockey National Training Center will host five of VWC’s nine home contests slated in September and October. The Marlins are making the move to the Training Center through a relationship between the Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation department and VWC Head Coach Joyce Anne Koubaroulis.

    Lynchburg field hockey saw its season come to an end on Saturday morning as Ursinus College topped the Hornets, 3-2, in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. LC finishes with an 18-6 overall record.
  • LC’s Weir, EMU’s Derstine Share Top Field Hockey Honor

    Lynchburg's Allie Weir and Eastern Mennonite's Alyssa Derstine were named Co-Players of the Year in All-ODAC Field Hockey voting. Lynchburg’s Enza Steele received the Coach of the Year award while fellow Hornet Kristina Morris was named the Rookie of the Year. EMU’s Kristina Landis took home the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete award.

    Lynchburg field hockey advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament following a 4-2 victory over Sewanee on Wednesday. The Hornets next travel to Ursinus for a Saturday morning contest.

    Lynchburg field hockey will open NCAA Division III Tournament play on Wednesday against Sewanee. The Hornets will host the Tigers at Shellenberger Field. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.

    Lynchburg field hockey claimed its third straight ODAC title on Saturday as the Hornets defeated Eastern Mennonite, 4-2, in Harrisonburg. Samantha Marano was tabbed as the tournament's MOP.

    Eastern Mennonite enters the ODAC Field Hockey Tournament as the #1 seed after finishing the conference regular season with a 6-1 record and winning a head-to-head tiebreaker with Lynchburg. The Hornets sit second while Randolph-Macon and Washington and Lee round out the top four seeds.
  • Lynchburg Picked to Win Third Straight Field Hockey Title

    Lynchburg was selected by the league’s coaches to win the title for a third consecutive time in the 2008 ODAC Field Hockey Preseason Poll. The Hornets garnered five first place votes and 60 total points. Eastern Mennonite is just four points back (56 pts.) after picking up a pair of top marks. Washington and Lee sits in third with 49 points and the remaining highest rank.
