ODAC Athletes of the Week | Golf

FOREST, Va. --- Week eight marks the final report for ODAC golf until play resumes in the spring semester. Conference athletes finished on high notes with strong showings in deep fields over several tournaments.

You have seen both of this week's ODAC Golfers of the Week before. Ferrum's Jiwanan Masoot earns her second honor, while Washington and Lee's Pierce Robinson collects his third award of the season.

Below are entries for both Golfers of the Week. Click on the associated links to see that sport's weekly honor roll. Most weeks this fall, the following schedule will be used for awards reporting:

  • Sundays: football
  • Mondays: field hockey, soccer, swimming, volleyball (basketball it begins)
  • Tuesdays: cross country (indoor track when it begins)
  • Wednesdays: golf

MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Pierce Robinson | Washington and Lee | Jr.
Robinson, a junior from Kings Mountain, N.C., collects his third ODAC weekly honor to close out the fall season after finishing as the top ODAC competitor at the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial hosted by Guilford College. Robinson tied for 13th overall with Davis Reynolds from Greensboro and Matthew Salter from York College (Pa.) following two rounds on the par-71 layout set to 6,755 yards at The Cardinal by Pete Dye in Pleasant Garden, N.C. Robinson opened with a 5-over 76 before improving by a stroke at 4-over 75 to finish at 9-over 151. His efforts helped Washington and Lee to fourth place out of 22 competing teams. Robinson closes the Generals' fall season with a 74.1 average covering eight rounds of competition. He is currently rated 34th in the latest rankings (10/26/21) published by Golfstat.

WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Jiwanan Masoot | Ferrum | So.
Masoot, a sophomore from Bangkok, Thailand, earns her second weekly award of the season after a strong showing in a deep field at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invite hosted by Berry College. Masoot tied for 26th overall following two rounds at the Coosa Country Club in Rome, Ga. She opened with a 13-over 85, but then tied for the lowest second round at 4-over 76 with Katie Smith from Coker College. Masoot finished at 17-over 161 after 36 holes on the par-72 layout set to 5,819 yards. She closes Ferrum's fall season with a 79.9 average over eight rounds of competition.
