John Hatcher Ferguson, Hampden-Sydney, So.

Ferguson, a sophomore from Rocky Mount, Va., turned in the best performance by an ODAC golfer at the NCAA Division III Preview hosted by Emory University at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., the host-site for the PGA Tour's Honda Classic each spring. The event featured 14 of country's top-20 teams including #13 Hampden-Sydney as well as ranked ODAC members Guilford (3) and Washington and Lee (15). Ferguson posted an even par-72 in round one on the 6,902-yard layout. He fell a few shots off pace with a 5-over 77 after the second round, but rebounded 1-under 71 to close the 54-hole affair in 11th place at 4-over 220. Ferguson's efforts helped lead Hampden-Sydney to a tie for seventh of 18 squads in the team table at 46-over 910 (310-303-297). The Tigers third-round 297 was the best team-round posted by an ODAC school in the tournament.
