  • Generals Duo Earns Top ODAC Track & Field Awards
    June 17, 2014
    Washington and Lee University track & field standouts Dana Lee and Zander Tallman earned the conference's top track awards on Tuesday as the duo were tabbed the ODAC Track & Field Athletes of the Year. The Generals' stars are on opposite ends of their collegiate careers with Tallman recently graduating and Lee completing her first campaign in Lexington.
  • ODAC Announces Jopson and Berkley Award Winners

    One school received its record 19th season-ending individual honor while the other earned just its second such prize as the ODAC Board of Directors announced its top two individual student-athlete awards on Monday. Washington and Lee University cross country and track star Annelise Madison was recognized as the Marjorie Berkley Award recipient, while Guilford College baseball standout John Macon Smith took home the Harry G. "Doc" Jopson Award.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2013-14 ODAC/StellarOne Sportsmanship Teams in each of the fall and winter sports sponsored by the conference. This marks the fifth year the league has recognized these fine student-athletes for their excellence in sportsmanship.

  • LC's Sippie Leads ODAC Athletes into Finals of NCAA Indoor Track

    Lynchburg College sophomore sprinter Tom Sippie is one of two student-athletes from ODAC schools to qualify for the finals in the men's 400-meter dash at the 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor Track Championships hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Neb. Sippie was one of 10 ODAC athletes that qualified for the championships.

    Lynchburg College sprinter Tom Sippie highlighting the ODAC's showing on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track Championships. The Hornets' sophomore made his top-qualifying time stand up as he won the 400-meter dash title, out-pacing the field by 0.17 seconds. Fellow ODAC sprinter, Zander Tallman from Washington and Lee University, placed third in the event.
  • VWC's Lott Leads ODAC Contingent in USTFCCCA Regional Awards

    Virginia Wesleyan College senior sprinter Randy Lott was named the South/Southeast Region Men's Athlete of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday, leading a list of four award winners from ODAC schools. Bridgewater College head coach Shane Stevens was tabbed the region women's coach of the year, while BC assistant Brian Flynn earned men's assistant coach accolades. Roanoke College mentor Carl Blickle garnered women's assistant coach honors.
  • ODAC Squads Ready for Indoor Track Championships

    The 2014 ODAC Indoor Track Championships travel east to the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, Va., on Sunday as the conference's men's and women's squads move away from its previous meet site, the Tolsma Indoor Track Center at Liberty University. Athletes will compete in 16 events over the course of the day beginning with throws and jumps at 9:00 a.m. and running events at 2:00 p.m.
  • Lynchburg Wins 28th ODAC Men's Indoor Track Crown

    Lynchburg College out-paced Bridgewater College, 154-118, to claim its 28th overall and 17th straight ODAC men's indoor track championship on Sunday at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, Va. The Hornets won a meet-best seven events and were involved in three of the five records established on the day. Washington and Lee University round out the top three with 80 points.
  • Bridgewater Wins First ODAC Women's Indoor Track Title

    Bridgewater College won four events en route to racking up 125 team points to win its first ODAC women's indoor track title on Sunday at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, Va. Roanoke College, which also won four events, finished second with 97 points, while Lynchburg College and Washington and Lee University tied for third with 90 points, combining for six top finishes.

    Bridgewater College picked up five first place votes on the way to 61 total points to post a narrow lead in the 2013-14 ODAC Men's Indoor Track Coaches' Poll. Lynchburg College secured the remaining top nods towards 59 tallies to sit second. Washington and Lee University holds down the third spot with 47 poll points in the annual survey of the league's head coaches.

    Roanoke College picked up four first place votes and 59 total points as the Maroons were chosen atop the 2013-14 ODAC Women's Indoor Track Coaches' Poll. Washington and Lee University also received four top considerations on the way to 56 tallies to slot second. Bridgewater College and Lynchburg College tied for third with 49 points, while the Hornets garnered the remaining first place nod in the annual survey of the league's head coaches.

  • Zach Haupt Named Head Track & Field Coach at Lynchburg

    The Lynchburg College athletic department announced the hiring of Zach Haupt Tuesday as the men's and women's head indoor and outdoor track & field coach. Haupt has spent the last two years working at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as the short sprints and jumps coach.
