ODAC Athletes of the Week | Indoor Track & Field

FOREST, Va. --- Several program records and high national rankings dot the week's performances in indoor track & field. Those earning weekly awards in men's and women's indoor track & field include (headshots, left-to-right, top-to-bottom): Gene Roberts from Virginia Wesleyan (field), Sammi Woods from Lynchburg (field), Nikki Doherty from Washington and Lee (track), and Davonta Womack from Bridgewater (track).

MEN'S INDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Geni Roberts | Virginia Wesleyan | Fy. | Jumps
Roberts, a first-year from Ridgely, Md., put together a record-breaking outing at the Keydet Invitational hosted by Virginia Military Institute last weekend. Roberts set a new Virginia Wesleyan standard in the triple jump as he placed fifth overall and second among Division III competitors with a leap of 14.25 meters (46-9.00). That mark is more than three feet longer than the previous Marlins' benchmark set by Ethan Fowlkes in 2013. Roberts' record stands eighth in the Division III table and #1 in the ODAC. Roberts also placed 15th in the long jump at 6.48 meters (21-3.25).

MEN'S INDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Davonta Womack | Bridgewater | Sr. | Sprints
Womack, a senior from Salem, Va., put together a strong performance at the Keydet Invitational hosted by Virginia Military Institute over the weekend. Womack, the reigning fastest man in Division III after winning the outdoor 100-meter dash title last spring, finished second overall and first among Division III competitors in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.85-seconds. That time is 0.09-seconds shy of the ODAC record and is the third-fastest in Bridgewater history. Womack's new mark leads the ODAC and ranks fourth in the country.

WOMEN'S INDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Sammi Woods | Lynchburg | Sr.
Woods, a senior from Fredericksburg, Va., picks up her second weekly award of the season after a strong performance in the throws at the Keydet Invitational hosted by Virginia Military Institute over the weekend. Woods set a new program record in the shot put, toss the apparatus 13.13 meters (43-1.00) to place fifth overall and first among Division III competitors in the event. That mark is 0.23 meters shy of the ODAC record and currently ranks 17th in the country. Woods' mark leads the ODAC by 1.99 meters. Woods also competed in the weight throw, placing 24th overall at 12.26 meters (40-2.75).

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Nikki Doherty | Washington and Lee | Sr. | Springs/Hurdles
Doherty, a senior from Arlington, Mass., placed in two events to lead the Washington and Lee track and field team this past weekend at the Keydet Invitational hosted by the Virginia Military Institute. Doherty finished 27th overall and was the top Division III runner in the 200-meter dash with an indoor personal-best time of 26.37. That time is the third-fastest in W&L history, and her converted time of 26.78 is the second-fastest in the ODAC this year and ranks 45th nationally.* In the 60-meter hurdles, Doherty took 18th overall (2nd in DIII) in 9.56. She ran 9.46 in the prelims of the event, which is the fastest time in the ODAC this season.
