2020-21 Indoor Track Athletes of the Week

  • Adalia Coleman, Bridgewater, Fy., Sprints
    February 23, 2021
    Coleman, a first-year from Warrenton, Va., made the most of her first collegiate meet with an event win and a fourth place finish in two sprints at the Finn Pincus Invitational hosted by Roanoke College. Coleman ran 8.02 seconds in the 60-meter dash prelims and then bettered that with a 7.93-second showing in the finals to win the event. Her finals time is not only tops in the ODAC, but ranks 14th in the NCAA Division III and third in Bridgewater program-history. Only former Eagles stars and national qualifiers Amber Celen and Emily Valle have run faster in the event. Coleman added a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 26.65-seconds, which ranks third in the ODAC and 35th in the country. It is also eighth-best in BC history.
  • Bailey Casto, Lynchburg, Jr., Pole Vault/Sprints
    February 23, 2021
    Casto, a junior from Evington, Va., picks up her third weekly honor of the season after yet again improving upon a season-best ODAC mark among three events competed at the Finn Pincus Invitational hosted by Roanoke College. Casto improved upon her conference top clearance in the pole vault by eclipsing 3.42 meters (11-2.50) to win the event. That ranked fourth in Lynchburg program history and stands 10th in NCAA Division III. Casto also competed in the 400-meter dash and 4x400-meter relay. She finished sixth in the 400-dash in a new personal-best time of 1:02.85, which ranks fourth in the ODAC. She helped the Hornets to second in the 4x4-relay in 4:14.00, which tops the ODAC chart.
  • Isaac Alderfer, Eastern Mennonite, Jr., Mid-Distance
    February 23, 2021
    Alderfer, a junior from Broadway, Va., continued his strong season in the mid-distance events at the Finn Pincus Invitational hosted by Roanoke College. Alderfer improved upon his ODAC-best time in the 800-meter run by winning the event in 1:54.76. That time broke his own Eastern Mennonite program record by 0.21-seconds from his final run in 2020 season. That time also improved his position to eighth on the NCAA Division III season chart. Alderfer competed in the 3,000-meter run for the first time in his collegiate career, placing fourth overall and second in Royals history at 8:54.45. That time sits sixth in the ODAC this season.
  • Chase Rosenthal, Bridgewater, Sr., Jumps
    February 23, 2021
    Rosenthal, a senior from Chesapeake, Va., moved the ODAC triple jump charts after a strong showing at the Finn Pincus Invitational hosted by Roanoke College. Rosenthal won the event with a leap of 13.63 meters (44-8.75). That mark, which out-paced second place by more than three feet, is second-best in the ODAC and ranks 21st in NCAA Division III. He was one of only two ODAC male competitors in field events to capture a top-two conference mark at the meet.
  • Shirell Washington, Virginia Wesleyan, Fy., Hurdles/Sprints/Jumps
    February 15, 2021
    Washington, a first-year from Virginia Beach, Va., competed in six total events at the 1st Annual Kenneth Giles Invitational hosted by Norfolk State University. Washington had highlight showing in both the track and field categories of events. On the track, she showcased in the 60-meter hurdles, placing fifth overall in 9.33-seconds. That time is second-fastest in the ODAC and ranks 21st in NCAA Division III. She also went ODAC top-10 in two additional sprints. She chimed in 19th overall in the 200-meter dash in 27.55-seconds, which converts to 27.98-seconds for ODAC rankings (9th) due to track size. She added a 20th-place finish in the 60-meter dash in 8.48-seconds, which also rankings ninth in the ODAC. In the jumps, Washington took over third position in the ODAC in the triple jump at 10.86 meters (35-7.75), which placed fourth in the event and ranks 24th in the country. She added a 10th place leap in the long jump at 4.74 meters (15-6.75). Washington also ran a leg of the Marlins 4x400-meter relay team, which finished fourth in 4:21.07.
  • Kaitlin Measell, Shenandoah, Fy., Jumps

    Measell, a first-year from Chambersburg, Pa., went record hunting at the VMI Winter Classic over the weekend. Measell placed eighth overall in the long jump at 5.34 meters (17-6.25). The leap is #1 in the ODAC this season and snapped the previous Shenandoah record of 5.18 meters set by Jaclyn Mohlmann in 2015. Measell's mark is ranked 20th in NCAA Division III. She also competed in the triple jump at VMI, placing fourth in the event in 10.59 meters (34-9.0). That mark sits fifth in the ODAC this year.
  • Geni Roberts, Virginia Wesleyan, So., Jumps

    Roberts, a sophomore from Ridgely, Md., continues to impress followers locally and nationally as he improved yet again on his previously established season-best and Virginia Wesleyan record marks in the long jump. Competing at the Kenneth Giles Invitational hosted by Norfolk State University, Roberts finished third overall in the event at 7.24 meters (23-9.0), shattering the VWU record he set last week (7.07m). It also improved his hold on the ODAC lead in the event and distanced himself by 0.19 meters from the second-best competitor in NCAA Division III. Roberts also competed in the triple jump at Norfolk State, again placing third overall at 14.03 meters (46-0.5). That leap is tops in the ODAC and ranks sixth nationally.
  • Andre Jackson, Shenandoah, Fy., Sprints
    February 14, 2021
    Jackson, a first-year from Waldorf, Md., was blistering in the sprints at the VMI Winter Classic. Jackson qualified for the finals in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.96-seconds, which is now the top mark in the ODAC and ranks 10th in NCAA Division III this season. He went on to place seventh overall in the finals at 7.03-seconds. Jackson also competed in the 200-meter dash, placing 25th overall at 24.57-seconds.
  • Alison Moreau, Roanoke, Sr., Sprints/Jumps
    February 08, 2021
    Moreau, a senior from Lynchburg, Va., earns her second straight weekly award after winning three events and improving upon her own ODAC season-best marks in each event at the Noke Elite Meet hosted by Roanoke over the weekend. Moreau won the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes in 0:08.17 and 0:26.70, respectively. Her 60-meter time is an improvement of 0.03-seconds over last week's conference top mark and falls just outside the top-50 in NCAA Division III. Her 200-meter time is 0.32-seconds quicker than her previous-best. She now ranks 16th in the country in that event. Moreau also improved upon her conference-leading high jump height as she cleared the bar at 1.60 meters (5-3.0), an improvement of 0.10 meters. She slots eighth in D-III in that event.

    Casto, a junior from Evington, Va., picks up her second straight ODAC weekly honor after a strong outing at the Brant Tolsma Invitational hosted by Liberty University. Casto broke a tie with teammate Lauren Anderson for the top spot on the ODAC pole vault chart by clearing 3.40 meters (11-1.75). That is the fourth-best mark in Lynchburg history and is currently tied for fourth in the NCAA Division III table.
  • Frank Csorba, Lynchburg, So., Mid-Distance/Distance

    Csorba, a sophomore from Boydton, Va., put together an event-winning outing at the Brant Tolsma Invitational hosted by Liberty University. Csorba won the 5,000-meter run in 14:51.88, which ranks fifth on the NCAA Division III chart and third all-time at Lynchburg. When converted to flat track figures for ODAC rankings, his time of 15:01.43 leads all other ODAC competitors in the event by nearly 1:40.
  • Geni Roberts, Virginia Wesleyan, So., Jumps

    Roberts, a sophomore from Ridgely, Md., picks up his second straight weekly honor following a record-setting showing at the East Coast Invitational over the weekend. Roberts finished second overall in the long jump at 7.07 meters (23-2.5) to improve upon his previous ODAC and personal season-best mark (6.86m) set last week. Roberts is now the Virginia Wesleyan record-holder in the event, eclipsing the 7.05-meter leap by Ethan Fowlkes in 2014. Roberts' jump currently ranks first in NCAA Division III.
  • Bailey Casto, Lynchburg, Jr., Pole Vault/Sprints

    Casto, a junior from Evington, Va., put together a pair of strong performances at the Roanoke Division III/NAIA Invitational Challenge. Casto matched her collegiate-best height in the pole vault by clearing 3.35 meters (10-11.75), which is a nearly a foot higher than the mark she posted two weeks prior in her season debut. Casto's 3.35 mark ties teammate Lauren Anderson for #1 in the ODAC and second in Division III. Casto also competed in the 400-meter dash, finishing second in 1:03.42.
  • Alison Moreau, Roanoke, Sr., Sprints/Jumps
    February 01, 2021
    Moreau, a senior from Lynchburg, Va., competed in four events over two meets and finds herself a top the charts in each discipline following her season-opening weekend. At the Roanoke Division I/Division II Invitational Challenge, Moreau finished eighth overall in the 60-meter dash in 8.20-seconds. In addition to being #1 in the ODAC, that time is 23rd in Division III. She also helped her teammates to a second place finish in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:29.81, and placed third in the high jump at 1.50 meters (4-11.0). Those two marks are 37th and 13th in the country, respectively. At the Roanoke Division III/NAIA Invitational Challenge, Moreau finished second overall in the 200-meter dash in 27.02-seconds. Her converted* time 26.61-seconds for NCAA rankings sits 11th on the D-III chart.

    Alderfer, a junior from Broadway, Va., picks up his second straight ODAC weekly honor in as many opportunities after a record-setting performance at the Roanoke Division III/NAIA Invitational Challenge. Alderfer set a new ODAC in the indoor mile run with a time of 4:11.91, eclipsing the 4:12.07 standard established by Washington and Lee's Ian McDonald in 2015. Alderfer's record time, when converted* for NCAA rankings, tops the Division III chart. He also competed in the 800-meter run at Roanoke, winning the event in 1:57.80. That time is second in the ODAC to only his previous-best from two weeks ago, which ranks fourth in the country.

    Roberts, a sophomore from Ridgely, Md., kicked off his 2021 campaign with a pair of ODAC and nationally top-ranked jumps at the Roanoke Division III/NAIA Invitational Challenge. Roberts finished second overall and tops among D-III competitors in both the long and triple jumps. In the long jump, he reached 6.86 meters (22-6.25), which tops the ODAC chart and ranks second nationally. He also put himself atop the ODAC list in the triple jump at 13.91 meters (45-7.75). That mark has the added bonus of being the best in the D-III so far this season.
  • Julian Douglas, Lynchburg, Sr., Jumps
    January 20, 2021
    Douglas, a senior from Lynchburg, Va., opened his season with a Division III-best showing in the long jump at the VMI Keydet Invitational hosted by VMI. Douglas hit the sand 6.85 meters (22-5.75) from the board to win the event my more than a half-foot. It is the second-best indoor long jump distance of his collegiate career.

    Alderfer, a junior from Broadway, Va., enjoyed a stellar start to his season with a pair of third place finishes in mid-distance events at the Keydet Invitational hosted by VMI. Alderfer was the top Division III finisher in the 800-meter and mile runs, posting times of 1:55.48 and 4:16.80, respectively. His mile mark is a new personal-best and ranks #1 in the country, while is 800m time came up just 0.51-seconds shy of PR and sits second in the early Division III rankings.
  • Lauren Anderson, Lynchburg, Jr., Pole Vault
    January 20, 2021
    Anderson, a junior from Centreville, Va., did not wait long time reach of top of her game as she matched her collegiate-best mark in the pole vault at the VMI Keydet Invitational hosted by VMI. Anderson finished third overall and first among Division III competitors by clearing 3.35 meters (10-11.75). That mark is currently first in the early D3 rankings.
  • Rebecca Doran, Shenandoah, Jr., Distance
    January 20, 2021
    Doran, a junior from Burke, Va., was the top Division III competitor in the 3,000-meter run Shenandoah's season-opening action at the Keydet Invitational hosted by VMI. Doran placed 13th overall with a time of 10:59.01. That time is currently eighth in Division III and tops in the ODAC in the season's early rankings. It is only just eight seconds off her showing at last season's ODAC Championships.
