Shirell Washington, Virginia Wesleyan, Fy., Hurdles/Sprints/Jumps

Washington, a first-year from Virginia Beach, Va., competed in six total events at the 1st Annual Kenneth Giles Invitational hosted by Norfolk State University. Washington had highlight showing in both the track and field categories of events. On the track, she showcased in the 60-meter hurdles, placing fifth overall in 9.33-seconds. That time is second-fastest in the ODAC and ranks 21st in NCAA Division III. She also went ODAC top-10 in two additional sprints. She chimed in 19th overall in the 200-meter dash in 27.55-seconds, which converts to 27.98-seconds for ODAC rankings (9th) due to track size. She added a 20th-place finish in the 60-meter dash in 8.48-seconds, which also rankings ninth in the ODAC. In the jumps, Washington took over third position in the ODAC in the triple jump at 10.86 meters (35-7.75), which placed fourth in the event and ranks 24th in the country. She added a 10th place leap in the long jump at 4.74 meters (15-6.75). Washington also ran a leg of the Marlins 4x400-meter relay team, which finished fourth in 4:21.07.
