Guilford’s Strong Named NABC D-III Co-Player of the Year
March 21, 2007The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) named Guilford College's Ben Strong as its NCAA Division III Co-Player of the Year Thursday. Teammate Jordan Snipes earned NABC Second Team All-South Region honors. -
ODAC Downs USA South For Second Time
March 18, 2007Emory & Henry’s Lance Reasbeck hit seven three pointers to account for all 21 of his points to lead the ODAC men to victory over their counterparts from the USA South, 108-99, in the second annual ODAC/USA South Senior Men’s Basketball Challenge. The ODAC adds this victory at Roanoke College to its triumph at Averett last season.

March 17, 2007Guilford's Ben Strong continues to garner some impressive postseason press, with this latest honor the most notable. Already honored with the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and South Region top play honors, Strong was selected as the D3hoops.com National Player of the Year during championship weekend.

Amherst Tops Va. Wesleyan, Claims First National Crown
March 17, 2007Amherst College made the most of its third trip in the last four years to Salem, Virginia, as the Lord Jeffs defeated Virginia Wesleyan College, 80-67, to claim the school’s first NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball title. Amherst finishes the season with a 30-2 record while Virginia Wesleyan, the 2006 national champion, ends its campaign with a 28-5 mark and the national runner-up trophy.

ODAC-USA South Senior Basketball Challenge on Tap
March 16, 2007Hot off the heels of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship, basketball will again be at the forefront in the Roanoke area as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and the USA South Athletic Conference team for the second annual ODAC-USA South Men and Women's Basketball Senior Challenge.

Marlins Headed Back to Salem
March 10, 2007Junior TonTon Balenga led five Virginia Wesleyan College students in double-figure scoring with 18 points in the Marlins' 81-71 victory over Guilford College in an NCAA Division III men's basketball quarterfinal game Saturday night in the Batten Center. Virginia Wesleyan (26-4) is ranked fourth in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll. Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Guilford (24-5) is ranked 19th.

ODAC Sends Three Teams to NCAA Basketball Sectionals
March 04, 2007A pair of men's teams and one women's squad will represent the ODAC in the NCAA Division III Men and Women's Basketball "Sweet Sixteen" sectionals next weekend. Randolph-Macon College, hosting its own regional this weekend, moves on to the women's final 16 showdown while Virginia Wesleyan College and Guilford College continue their seasons in the men's field.

ODAC Represented by Four Schools in NCAA’s
February 26, 2007Four schools from Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men and women’s basketball will take their games to the next level. Hampden-Sydney College, the champion of the ODAC men’s tournament this past weekend, will be joined by Virginia Wesleyan College and Guilford College in the men’s 59-team bracket. Randolph-Macon College is the lone ODAC women’s squad in the 63-team field following its championship on Sunday afternoon.

Hampden-Sydney Claims Tenth ODAC Crown
February 25, 2007There are now two squads that have won a decade’s worth of Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and both were in action on Sunday afternoon. Hampden-Sydney College, powered by an explosive first half, claimed the 2007 ODAC Men’s Basketball Championship title, defeating Roanoke College 77-62 for its 10th conference crown.

ODAC Announces 2007 Men's Hoops All-League Teams
February 21, 2007Guilford College junior Ben Strong and head coach Tom Palombo headlined the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) postseason awards, winning the conference's player and coach of the year honors, respectively. Bridgewater freshman Dominic Trawick was named the league's top rookie, and Hampden-Sydney senior guard Matt Green earned the scholar-athlete award.

February 17, 2007The seeds are set for the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) postseason tournament. Virginia Wesleyan College, last season’s NCAA Division III national champion, and Randolph-Macon College will enter the Men's and Women's ODAC Basketball Championships as the #1 seeds, respectively. The Marlins (22-3, 17-1) go in search of their third straight ODAC men's crown while the Yellow Jackets (21-4, 18-2) are looking to make it three straight tourney titles through the women's bracket.

R-M Woman's College Names First Two Men's Team Coaches
December 12, 2006The last three months have been marked by historical events on the campus of Randolph-Macon Woman’s College. On September 9, the Board of Trustee’s announced a strategic plan that will make the college coed in the fall of 2007. On December 9, the new name of the college—Randolph College—was announced to the public.

Virginia Wesleyan Tops ODAC Men’s Hoops Poll
November 02, 2006The 2005-06 NCAA Division III basketball season ended with Virginia Wesleyan College standing atop the podium as the national champion, and the same is true for many national media outlets and their respective preseason rankings as the start to the 2006-07 season stands only a few weeks away. Coaches within the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) are on the same page with many of the nationwide predictions as the Marlins hold the top spot in the annual ODAC Men’s Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll.
