  • ODAC Announces 2021 All-ODAC Men's Basketball Awards
    April 07, 2021
    Randolph-Macon College guard Buzz Anthony and Yellow Jackets mentor Josh Merkel along with Washington and Lee University forward Curtis Mitchell headline the All-ODAC Men's Basketball Awards for a third straight season. Anthony earned Kurt Axe Memorial Player of the Year laurels for the third time in as many years, while Merkel collected his fourth consecutive Bob Johnson Coach of the Year plaque. Mitchell has now earned all three ODAC Defensive Player of the Year honors awarded by the conference. Roanoke College forward Justin Kuthan garnered ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades, and Ferrum College guard Kajuan Madden-McAfee received ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors from the conference's athletic communications personnel.

  • ODAC Men's Basketball Tournament | Eight-Team Field Announced

    The ODAC men's basketball season continues this week with the annual conference postseason tournament. This year's field features eight tournament teams. Roanoke College enters as the tournament's top seed after going 7-0 thru its conference slate. Ferrum College, the University of Lynchburg, and Bridgewater College round out the top-four seeds, respectively.

    Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) leadership has voted to expand the ODAC men’s and women’s basketball tournament formats slated to begin in March. The alteration to the formats is driven by a desire to provide additional competitive opportunities for the league’s programs.

    Conference men's basketball teams are set to return to league courts for the first time since March as the ODAC prepares to open conference competition for the first time in the 2020-21 academic year. With the ODAC title and trip to the NCAA Tournament on the line, league coaches took their hand at benchmarking the conference in the 2021 ODAC Men's Basketball Coaches Poll. Randolph-Macon College and Virginia Wesleyan University are separated at the top of the survey with last season's ODAC champion and runner-up collecting 142 and 135 points, respectively. The Yellow Jackets secured 10 first place votes while the Marlins garnered the remaining three.
