Murtha, a freshman from Dallas, Texas, averaged 30 points and
7.5 rebounds as the Generals went 1-1 last week. In an 83-72
triumph over Randolph, Murtha went 11-of-21 from the field and
7-of-7 from the line on the way to 29 points to go with 10
rebounds, three assists, a steal and a blocked shot. The
double-double marked the first of his career. Murtha upped
the scoring ante in an 82-77 setback to Randolph-Macon, becoming
the first General freshman to score 30 or more points since 2002
with 31 points. He was 9-of-15 from the field and 13-of-17
from the foul line. He added five rebounds, an assist and a
steal. Murtha is currently fifth in the ODAC in scoring (16.1
ppg) and fourth in total points (339). He leads the
conference in free throws made (115-of-155) and third in field goal
percentage (55.7; 112-of-201).
