Fishman Scores Three in Loss

GETTYSBURG, Pa. --- Josh Reichert scored a career-high five goals and fifth-ranked Gettysburg jumped out to a 7-2 lead en route to posting a 15-10 victory over sixth-ranked Washington and Lee in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Musselman Stadium.

The Bullets (14-3) took a 2-0 lead just 1:15 into the game, but the Generals (16-4) evened the score at 2-2 at the 11:00 mark of the first quarter on a pair of scores by senior attackman Seth Fishman (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Haverford). However, the Bullets scored the game's next five goals, including three by Reichert, for a 7-2 lead with 9:47 left in the second quarter on their way to holding a 9-4 advantage at the break.

W&L rallied in the third quarter, scoring five of the first six goals of the frame to slice it to a 10-9 game with 26 seconds remaining in the penultimate period. Senior midfielders Harry St. John (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) and Tim Skeen (Baltimore, Md./Towson) both scored a pair of goals during the run. However, Gettysburg's Joe Brody found the net with just four seconds left in the third period, and the Bullets outscored the Generals 5-1 the rest of the way for their 12th-straight win on the season and third-consecutive victory over W&L.

Fishman paced the Generals with three goals, while Skeen posted two goals and two assists. St. John scored two goals, and sophomore attackman Spence Daw (Phoenix, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) tallied one goal and assisted on two others. Junior attackman Will Keigler (Timonium, Md./Gilman) chipped in one goal and one assist and senior goalkeeper Connor Locke (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) played all 60 minutes between the pipes and made nine saves.

Joe Brody supplemented Reichert's day with one goal and three helpers, while Kyle McGrath had three goals. Zach Pucci added one goal and two assists, and Zach Furshman stopped six shots in 60 minutes in goal.

Gettysburg moves on to face Denison in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday. Washington and Lee ends its season with a 16-4 overall record, tying the program record for wins in a season set during 2000 (16-2). The Generals also set a record for goals in a season (271).
