Murphy, a sophomore from Downingtown, Pa., picks up his second weekly honor after helping the Hornets to a pair of ODAC wins, setting up a logjam at the top of the ODAC standings with three teams with only one conference loss. Murphy opened with one goal and a pair of assists as the Lynchburg handed Washington and Lee its first ODAC loss of the season via an 11-8 scoreline. His tally came on the game's lone man-advantage opportunity. On the weekend, Murphy accounted for half of LC's scoring with a career-high six goals in a 12-7 home win over Randolph-Macon. He also picked up three gound balls and caused a pair of turnovers. For the season, Murphy is fourth in the ODAC with 55 points on 35 goals and 20 assists.
Men's Lacrosse Honor Roll
Adam Fiore, Guilford (So., A -
Ithaca, N.Y.)
Fiore notched 19 points in a pair of Quakers' wins last week,
including a career-best 11 markers on four goals and seven assists
with four ground balls in a 16-7 non-conference win over Methodist.
He followed that with three goals and five helpers in an 11-7
triumph over Shenandoah. He is now ninth in school history
with 66 career points and third with 38 career assists.
Colton Wood, Randolph (Sr., M -
Chula Vista, Calif.)
Wood scored three times in a 17-9 setback to Virginia Wesleyan.
But he came back with two big goals against Bridgewater,
including the the game-winner in overtime for a 9-8 WildCats' win.
He also had 14 ground balls on the week, including 10 against
the Eagles.
Jason Andrews, Randolph-Macon (Sr.,
Hereford, Md.)
Andrews scored three times and picked up a pair of ground balls in
the Yellow Jackets 12-7 loss at Lynchburg.
Tyler McWilliams, Roanoke (Sr., M - Downingtown,
Pa.)
McWilliams scored three times and dished out a
pair of assists win a 13-7 road win at Hampden-Sydney. One of
his goals was on a man-down situation.
Cam Lewis, Washington and Lee (Jr., A - Chapell Hill,
N.C.)
Lewis led W&L in a 1-1 week with 11 points on
five goals and six assists. He scored once and dished out a
helper in the Generals' 11-8 loss at Lynchburg. He followed
that with a career-best nine points on four goals and five assists
with four ground balls in a 25-8 win over Virginia Wesleyan.
He collected his numbers in a little less than three quarters
of play.
