2016 Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week

  • Aaron Murphy, Lynchburg, Sr., Attack

    Murphy, a senior from Downingtown, Pa., registered 15 points in the Hornets final two regular season games of the season. He oped with seven goals in a 16-5 triumph over Randolph-Macon. He added three ground balls to his effort. Murphy bettered his effort by one on the road at Virginia Wesleyan as he scored five times and dished out three assists for eight points in a 17-11 victory over the Marlins. He chipped in five ground balls. For the season, Murphy is second in the ODAC with 75 points. He is third with 50 goals scored and fourth with 25 assists.
  • Burke McManus, Roanoke, Fr. Goalkeeper
    April 25, 2016
    McManus, a freshman from Baltimore, Md., helped the Maroons to a pair of conference wins that included a victory over previous ODAC unbeaten Washington and Lee, propelling Roanoke to the top the ODAC standings. McManus stopped 27 shots and registered a 64.3 save percentage in a full 120 minutes of action in front of RC's cage. He opened with eight saves and a 57.1-percent save mark in a 14-6 victory over Bridgewater. He followed that with season-high 19 saves and a 67.9 save percentage in a 14-9 triumph over the Generals. It marked his seventh game with a 60.0-percent or better save percentage this season. Five of his save against W&L came in the first quarter and allowed RC to build a 6-0 cushion after the first 15 minutes. For the season, McManus leads the ODAC with a 58.4 save percentage. He's fifth with 142 saves and his 101 goals allowed are second amongst keepers with 600 minutes of field action or more.
  • Tyler McWilliams, Roanoke, Sr., Attack

    McWilliams, a senior from Downingtown, Pa., registered a 16-point week in helping the Maroons to a pair of ODAC wins last week. He opened with six goals and two assists in a 21-5 triumph at Shenandoah. He added a ground ball to a stat line. Over the week, McWilliams scored five times and dished out three assists in a 23-8 victory at Virginia Wesleyan. He chipped in two caused turnovers and a ground ball. For the season, McWilliams is third in the ODAC in points (54) and assists (21), and slots fourth in goals scored (33). He has taken the third-most shots (130) in the league.
  • Adam Fiore, Guilford, Sr., Attack

    Fiore, a senior from Ithaca, N.Y., posted an 11-point week in helping Guilford to a 2-0 week that included a conference victory over Bridgewater. Fiore opened with eight points on three goals and five assists in an 18-10 non-conference win over Ferrum. He followed that his second hat-trick of the week, including the game's final goal with 4:37 to play to seal a 7-5 victory at Bridgewater. He added three total ground balls on the week. For the season, Fiore leads Guilford and ranks sixth in the ODAC with 40 points on 20 goals and on ODAC second-best 20 assists.

    McManus, a freshman from Baltimore, Md., helped the #19 Maroons to a pair of ODAC wins last week. McManus made 22 saves overall, beginning with nine stops in an 11-7 victory over Randolph College. He followed that up by setting a new career-best with 13 saves in a 9-8 triumph at Hampden-Sydney. He registered a .619 save percentage in that contest, with four stops coming in the opening frame as RC built a 5-2 advantage. For the season, McManus is sixth in the ODAC with an 8.89 goals-against-average and eighth with a .548 save percentage.
  • A.J. Witherell, Washington and Lee, Fr., Attack

    Witherell, a freshman from Wilmington, Del., picks up his second ODAC weekly award of the season after helping lead the Generals to a 2-0 week that included a conference victory on the road at #16 Lynchburg. Witherell registered nine points on the week, starting off with three goals in a 7-6 triumph at Colby College. His goal late in third quarter -- W&L's final score -- proved to be the deciding tally. At Lynchburg, Witherell came up with a six-point day, notching three goals to go along with three assists. He recorded at least one point in each quarter of play. W&L's victory marked the first ODAC loss for LC since 2014. For the season, Witherell leads Washington and Lee with 27 points on 20 goals and seven assists. His points and goals totals rank ninth and eighth in the ODAC, respectively.

    Murphy, a senior from Downingtown, Pa., led the Hornets to a 2-1 week that featured a pair of games against two of the top-six ranked teams according to the latest USILA coaches poll. Murphy opened the week with three goals and three assists in a 14-12 come-from-behind win over Endicott. Each of his goals came consecutively in the fourth quarter, erasing a 12-10 deficit and turning it into a 13-12 lead. At the Greene Turtle Classic, Murphy scored four goals as LC opened with a 16-8 setback to #3 RIT. He helped the Hornets recover with two goals and three assists as Lynchburg handed sixth-ranked York (Pa.) its first loss of the season via a 9-7 decision. Murphy, who also picked up 11 ground balls on the week, is fourth in the ODAC with 32 points on 17 goals and 15 assists, the latter ranking second in the ODAC.
  • Will Pilat, Roanoke, Sr., Attack
    March 14, 2016
    Pilat, a senior from Roanoke, Va., exploded for 14 points to help the 11th-ranked Maroons to a 3-0 week. He opened with one goal, a ground ball and a caused turnover in a 12-7 triumph at Colorado College. He followed that with four goals and two assists in a 16-10 victory over Wittenberg. Two of his tallies were man-up scores. He added three ground balls and a caused turnover. Pilat capped his week with five goals and a pair of helpers as Roanoke opened ODAC play with an 18-5 win over Randolph-Macon. Pilat has registered 21 points on 13 goals and eight assists in seven games played this season.
  • Josh Currier, Virginia Wesleyan, Sr., Attack

    Currier, a senior from Peterborough, Ontario, matched a pair of career-highs in putting together 17 points in the Marlins' 2-0 week. He opened with five goals and four assists for a career-high matching nine points in a 17-5 win over Methodist. He also became the Virginia Wesleyan leader in career assists with his second helper against the Monarchs. Currier continued his hot run with a career-best tying seven goals and an assist in a 21-10 victory over Adrian. He picked up three ground balls for the second straight game. For the season, Currier leads the ODAC with 30 points and 22 goals scored.
  • IV Stucker, Roanoke, So., Midfielder
    February 29, 2016
    Stucker, a sophomore from Falmouth, Maine, helped the Maroons to a pair of wins last week, including an 8-7 triumph over 15th-ranked Denison. In that game, Stucker tallied twice while adding four ground balls. Late in the week, he exploded for seven points on five goals and two assists in Roanoke's 16-5 victory over Sewanee. He added three more ground balls, completing the week without a turnover. Stucker is currently second on the 13th-ranked Maroons' season charts with 11 points on nine goals and two assists.
  • Duncan Morris, Hampden-Sydney, Jr., Attack
    February 22, 2016
    Morris, a junior from Charlottesville, Va., racked up 11 goals to help lead the Tiges to a 2-0 week. Morris opened with three tallies in a 15-8 win at Greensboro, adding four ground balls. He then registered a career-best eight goals in a 19-9 triumph over Methodist. Seven of his tallies came in the first half as H-SC built up a 16-4 advantage following the first two quarters. For the season, Morris leads the ODAC with 17 goals scored accounting for all 17 of his points.
  • A.J. Witherell, Washington and Lee, Fr., Attack
    February 15, 2016
    Witherell, a freshman from Wilmington, Del., helped the Generals to a season-opening 10-9 triumph in double-overtime at Christopher Newport University. Witherell scored twice and dished out three assists for five points in his first collegiate game. He also picked up three gound balls and caused a turnover.
