  • VWC’s Massie, H-SC’s Laux Collect Top M. Soccer Awards

    The annual All-ODAC Men’s Soccer voting has ended and the league’s top awards have been named. Virginia Wesleyan’s Brandon Massie was tabbed the ODAC Player of the Year. Hampden-Sydney’s Josh Laux and John Robert Plyler earned Coach of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors, respectively. Virginia Wesleyan’s Travis Cober earned the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete award following a vote by the league’s sports information directors.

    Hampden-Sydney College and Washington & Lee University sat tied atop the ODAC men’s soccer standings going into their regular season-ending clash on Tuesday, but neither came out victorious as the game ended dead-locked 1-1 after a pair of overtime periods.
  • Roanoke, Va. Wesleyan Sit Tight Atop Men’s Soccer Poll

    Only one vote separates the top two spots in the 2007 ODAC Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll as Roanoke College sits a slim favorite over Virginia Wesleyan College atop the annual coaches’ survey. The Maroons received six first place votes and 88 overall tallies while the Marlins managed 87 total votes including a pair of first place nods. Lynchburg College, the defending league champion, rounds out the top three with 81 votes and the remaining two top spot considerations.
  • VWC’s Travis Resigns for AD, Men’s Soccer Positions

    Virginia Wesleyan College athletic director and head men’s soccer coach has resigned from the Marlins’ athletic department, effective in early August. He is leaving the College that has been a major part of his life since 1989. VWC’s head men’s soccer coach for 18 years and the athletic director for the past eight, Travis has decided to accept an offer to coach the Emory University men’s soccer team beginning this fall.
