LC's Moore, W&L's Paldino also Receive Individual Honors
FOREST, Va. --- Randolph College, the 2011 ODAC Men's Soccer Tournament champion, picked up a pair of individual honors as part of the ODAC Men's Soccer All-Conference Awards. Forward Corey Sindle was tabbed the ODAC Player of the Year, while head coach Bryan Waggoner earned the league's top coaching prize. Lynchburg College forward Luke Moore was named the ODAC Rookie of the Year, and Washington and Lee University midfielder Jamie Paldino repeated as the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete.
Sindle, a sophomore from Gloucester, Va., adds this honor to an All-ODAC First Team selection this season and a second team spot in 2010. With his team still in NCAA play, Sindle currently ranks atop the conference in points (35) and goals (15) and is tied for fifth in assists (5). He has notched at least one point in 13-of-23 games played. He has scored six game-winning goals, including an extra-time header against Virginia Wesleyan College in the ODAC semifinals and the eventual game-deciding tally against DeSales University in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
In his fifth year guiding the WildCats, Waggoner enjoys his first ODAC Coach of the Year honor as his team prepares for third round action in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Randolph's first conference crown earned the ODAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, providing the WildCats with their inaugural appearance on the national stage. With at least one game left to play, Waggoner owns at 43-43-6 (.500) overall record and a 20-16-4 (.550) mark in conference games. This is the second straight year the WildCats have posted 10 or more victories, with this season's total (18) already well ahead of 2010's then program-best 10 wins.
Moore, a freshman from Richmond, Va., stepped in and became the leading goal-scorer for the defending national runners-up. Moore notched seven points on three goals and an assist. He collected his first collegiate goal on his first shot in LC colors as he helped Lynchburg defeat traditional power Emory University, 2-0, to open the season. Later in the year, he scored once and dished out an assist as LC topped Emory & Henry College, 2-1.
Paldino, a senior from Kensington, Conn., pairs this honor with the scholar-athlete award he won in 2010. In the classroom, Paldino maintains a 3.849 grade-point-average as a Mathematics and Economics double-major. He has earned a spot on the All-ODAC Academic Team three times, as well as being named a W&L scholar-athlete. On the field, Paldino was ranked third on the Generals' scoring charts with six points on two goals and a pair of assists.
