  • Virginia Wesleyan Names Mills as Men's Soccer Head Coach
    December 20, 2012
    Former Virginia Wesleyan College player, assistant and associate head coach Chris Mills continues to trend upward in the VWC men's soccer ranks as he was named the new head coach of the Marlins' program. He takes the reins from Jeff Bowers, who served as the head coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2012.
  • Roanoke Names Pflugrad as New Men's Soccer Head Coach

    Ryan Pflugrad '02 will serve as the new head coach of the Roanoke College men's soccer program announced by Director of Athletics, Scott Allison, on Tuesday. Allison retired from coaching after 27 years at the helm of the program, and will stay on as Athletic Director.
  • RC's Conover Tabbed NSCAA Third Team All-American

    Roanoke College senior defender Chris Conover was named to the 2012 NSCAA Men's Soccer Division III All-America Team announced this week. Conover is the first Maroon to garner the honor since Michael Stark was named second team in the 2010 season.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2012 ODAC/StellarOne Sportsmanship Teams in each of seven fall sports sponsored by the conference. This marks the fourth year the league has recognized these fine student-athletes for their excellence in sportsmanship.
  • Lynchburg's Releford Headlines ODAC Men's Soccer Awards

    Lynchburg goalkeeper Michael Releford headlines the 2012 ODAC Men's Soccer All-Conference Awards as the Hornets' junior was tabbed the ODAC Player of the Year in a vote of the league's coaches. Roanoke mentor Scott Allison was named the ODAC Coach of the Year, while RC midfielder Tyler Carbaugh took home Rookie of the Year honors. Eastern Mennonite defender Ryan Eshleman earned ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete recognition by the conference's sports information directors.
  • Roanoke's Season Closes in Loss to Emory in NCAA First Round

    Roanoke College men's soccer experience several milestones in 2012, including a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament. In their first round contest on Thursday evening, the Maroons were defeated by Emory University, 4-1, bringing a close to their season. RC finished with a 13-5-1 record.
  • Roanoke to Represent the ODAC in the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament

    Roanoke will play host to a single first round contest in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament on Thursday evening. The Maroons (13-4-1 overall), winners o the ODAC's automatic bid after topping Virginia Wesleyan College for the ODAC title, welcome Emory University (10-6-2) to Salem for a 6:00 p.m. start. The winner moves on to face top-ranked Messiah College (19-0-1) on Sunday, November 11. Game time for that contest is set for 6:00 p.m.
  • Roanoke Wins Ninth ODAC Men's Soccer Title

    A.J. Tierce scored with 59-seconds to play in double-overtime to unlock a scoreless draw and earn Roanoke College its ninth ODAC men's soccer title with a 1-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan College in the conference championship game on Saturday. The Maroons earn the ODAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament, which is scheduled to begin next week. The selection show is set for 1:00 p.m. on www.ncaa.com.

  • ODAC Men's Soccer Tournament Field Set

    The top seed of the 2012 ODAC Men's Soccer Tournament is a familiar face as Roanoke College enters the eight-team field with the number-one billing for the second straight year. The Maroons' 2-1 overtime triumph on Tuesday evening game them the necessary points to stay ahead of Washington and Lee University, which holds down the second seed.
  • Allison to Retire as Roanoke Men's Soccer Head Coach

    Scott Allison '79 has announced that he will retire as men's soccer coach at Roanoke College at the conclusion of the 2012 season. A national search for the next men's soccer head coach will begin in November headed by Allison, who will remain on staff as the college's Director of Athletics, a position he has held since 1989.

    Bridgewater College men's soccer player Sawyer Janes is the first feature in the ODAC's new Spotlight Athlete of the Week video series. Sawyer earned the ODAC Player of the Week award for his play the week prior to 9/10/12. He helped the Eagles to a 3-0 mark with a pair of game-deciding goals and a game-tying assist.

    Randolph College men's soccer coach, Bryan Waggoner, previews his team coming into the 2012 season. His WildCats were selected #1 in the 2012 ODAC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll after claiming the program's first conference title in 2011.
  • Randolph Tops ODAC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll

    Randolph was picked to repeat as men's soccer champions as the WildCats received seven first place votes on the way to 115 total points and the top position in the 2012 ODAC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll. Randolph is just one point clear of second place Roanoke, which received the remaining five top nods. Lynchburg rounds out the top three with 95 points in the annual coaches' survey (full poll results below).
