  • ODAC Fall and Winter Sportsmanship Teams Announced
    April 10, 2014
    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2013-14 ODAC/StellarOne Sportsmanship Teams in each of the fall and winter sports sponsored by the conference. This marks the fifth year the league has recognized these fine student-athletes for their excellence in sportsmanship.
  • Generals Name Michael Singleton New Men's Soccer Head Coach

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced the appointment of Michael Singleton as head men's soccer coach and associate professor of physical education. Singleton will begin his appointment on July 1 as the program's first new head coach in 39 years following the retirement of longtime mentor Rolf Piranian.
  • Men's Soccer Places Nine Players on NSCAA All-Region Team

    Nine players from the ODAC's men's soccer ranks earned a spot on the NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region team on Monday. Four of those standouts were selected to the first team, including Lynchburg goalkeeper Jonathan Sheffield (pictured).
  • Carnegie Mellon Eliminates Virginia Wesleyan from NCAA Tourney

    Twelfth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University's Tartans produced two late goals Saturday to post a 3-1 victory over Virginia Wesleyan College's Marlins in the first round of the NCAA Division III championship tournament at CMU. VWC closes its season with a 16-5-1 record.
  • Randolph's Sindle Leads ODAC Men's Soccer Awards

    Randolph striker Corey Sindle was tabbed the ODAC Player of the Year for the second time in three seasons to highlight the 2013 All-ODAC men’s soccer awards. Virginia Wesleyan mentor Chris Mills earned ODAC Coach of the Year honors, while fellow Marlin Kyle Fisher was named the ODAC Rookie of the Year. Washington and Lee midfielder Al Organ secured ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete accolades from the league’s sports information directors.
  • Virginia Wesleyan Heads to Carnegie Mellon for NCAA Men's Soccer Play

    Virginia Wesleyan College, winners of the 2013 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship, received the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament. The tournament bracket was released this afternoon and the Marlins will travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. and Carnegie Mellon University for first round play. VWC will square off with the host Tartans in a first round contest on Saturday.
  • Virginia Wesleyan Claims 10th ODAC Men's Soccer Title

    Virginia Wesleyan senior Brian Cornell converted a penalty kick just 1:43 into overtime as the Marlins topped Randolph, 2-1, on Saturday evening in the ODAC Men's Soccer Tournament championship game. The title marks the 10th in VWC program history and its first since 2008. The victory also awards the Marlins the ODAC's automatic entry into the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.

  • ODAC Men's Soccer Tournament Field Set

    Randolph won its first ODAC men's soccer title in 2011 as the fourth seed. In 2013, the WildCats look to scratch out there second crown from the top position as they secured the #1 seed in the upcoming ODAC Men's Soccer Tournament. Virginia Wesleyan locked up the second seed with its win on Wednesday evening. Joining Randolph and VWC as quarterfinal hosts are third-seeded Lynchburg and #4 Washington and Lee.

  • Generals' Piranian to Enter Phased Retirement Following 2013 Season

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that head men's soccer coach Rolf Piranian has decided to retire from coaching at the end of the 2013 season and will begin phased retirement. Piranian could remain with the University for up to four years as an Associate Professor of Physical Education.

  • Maroons Top ODAC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll

    Roanoke College received first place votes from 10 coaches on the way to racking up 119 total points to lead the 2013 ODAC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll. Lynchburg College picked up one top consideration as part of a 101-point showing to sit in second. Randolph College with 95 tallies is one point clear of Washington and Lee University for third, and Virginia Wesleyan College garnered the remaining first place vote and 83 points for fifth in the annual coaches' survey.
  • Emory & Henry Names Robert Richardson as Next Men's Soccer Coach

    The Emory & Henry College Athletic Department and Director of Athletics Myra Sims are pleased to announce that Robert Richardson has been selected as the College's new Head Men's Soccer Coach. Richardson comes to E&H after serving as an Assistant Coach at Brevard College for the past year.
