VWC's Mills and Fisher, W&L's Organ also Honored

FOREST, Va. --- Randolph College striker Corey Sindle was tabbed the ODAC Player of the Year for the second time in three seasons to highlight the 2013 All-ODAC men's soccer awards.  Virginia Wesleyan College mentor Chris Mills earned ODAC Coach of the Year honors, while fellow Marlin Kyle Fisher was named the ODAC Rookie of the Year.  Washington and Lee University midfielder Al Organ secured ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete accolades from the league's sports information directors.

Sindle, a senior from Gloucester, Va., adds this season's top player honor to the one he earned in 2011 as well as three straight All-ODAC First Team selections.  Sindle is on pace to finish atop the conference in goals scored and points for the second time in his career (2011), having registered 17 goals towards 41 points, both career highs.  He notched at least one point in 15-of-20 games played, recording three or more points seven times including a hat-trick in the second game of the season against Marymount (Va.).  For his career, Sindle stands fourth in points (121) and tied for fourth in goals scored (51) in ODAC history. 

Mills didn't take long to make an impact as the head coach of the Marlins men's program, leading VWC to the program's 10th all-time ODAC title in just his first season in the lead chair.  Mills spent five seasons as an assistant coach and one year as the associate head coach at Virginia Wesleyan before taking over the reins this season.  His Marlins will be making the program's 17th appearance in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament after winning the ODAC's automatic qualifier, marking the first national stage appearance for VWC since 2009.  Mills' top coaching honor is the sixth for a VWC men's soccer coach.

Fisher, a freshman from Virginia Beach, Va., bolstered a Virginia Wesleyan attack that finished second in the conference with 48 goals scored.  He currently sits tied for fourth in the conference with nine goals scored, having racked up 19 total points.  Fisher has been a clutch performer for VWC this season as four times he's notched the deciding goal in one-goal victories.  Those tallies came in wins at Christopher Newport University (3-2) and at home against Lynchburg College (1-0), Washington and Lee (1-0) and Bridgewater College (2-1), the latter coming in the ODAC quarterfinals.

Organ, a junior from St. Paul, Minn., boasts a 3.89 grade point average as an Accounting and Business Administration double-major.  He's a perennial member of the Washington and Lee Dean's List, having twice been named a W&L Winter Scholar-Athlete and to the All-ODAC Academic Team.  He's also a five-time honoree on the W&L Honor Roll, in addition to being a member of the Phi Eta Sigma national freshman academic honor society.  On the field, Organ was the second-leading point scorer for the Generals, collecting 11 points on four goals and three assists.  He supplied the winning tally in W&L's first victory of the season, a 1-0 triumph over Southern Virginia University in early September.
