Lynchburg Joins Washington and Lee in NCAA Men's Soccer Field

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Washington and Lee University will have a friend in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament field following the announcement of the 64-team bracket on NCAA.com on Monday afternoon. The Generals, owners of the ODAC's automatic bid, will be joined by the University of Lynchburg as an at-large selection by the Division III Men's Soccer Championship Committee.

Washington and Lee (14-2-4) will be making its eighth national stage appearance following a semifinal showing in 2021. The Generals own a 9-6-3 mark from their seven previous appearances. Lynchburg (11-2-5) is in the NCAA postseason for a 13th time. The Hornets boast an 8-11-1 record in their previous showings, which includes a runner-up finish in 2010.

The field of 64 teams includes 43 squads that earned Pool "A" bids as automatic qualifiers from their respective conferences. Washington and Lee falls into this category. One program received a Pool "B" berth for true independent programs or those competing in leagues without automatic qualification. Pool "C" -- at-large choices among all remaining teams eligible for selection -- account for the remaining 20 teams in the bracket. Lynchburg earned its spot through Pool "C."
